Sunsynk Sun 8K ECCO Hybrid Inverter

Sunsynk Sun 8K ECCO Hybrid Inverter

Sunsynk ECCO 8 kW SG05LP1 — 10.4 kW of PV and 190 A of battery current on a single-phase supply.

A hybrid inverter does three jobs a string inverter cannot. It converts solar DC to AC; it charges and discharges a battery on the DC side, which avoids the double conversion an AC-coupled battery pays for; and when the grid fails it islands the house and keeps the essential-load output alive from the battery.

Overview

About the Sunsynk ECCO 8 kW SG05LP1

The 8 kW ECCO is the big single-phase unit in the range: 10,400 W of array across two trackers, 190 A of battery charge and discharge current, and a 16 kW peak for ten seconds. It suits a large house or a small commercial unit that has only a single-phase supply to work with.

Sunsynk build these around two output terminals rather than one: an essential-load output that stays live in a power cut, and a non-essential-load output that does not. That split is why the range is specified so often for houses that actually want to keep working through an outage rather than merely to store cheap electricity.

Battery compatibility

Which battery does this inverter take?

This inverter takes Low voltage, 40 – 60 V, lead-acid or lithium-ion.

This model has a battery voltage window of 40 – 60 V, a maximum charge or discharge current of 190 A, BMS communication over RS485; CAN.

This rule applies to the Sunsynk ECCO, Classic, Acure and MAX single phase, and the SG04LP3 three phase.

Charging strategy self-adapts to the battery BMS. Maximum charge and discharge current is model-specific and runs from 70 A on the 3 kW ECCO to 290 A on the 16 kW MAX.

What we stock that fits this inverter:

Low voltage and high voltage batteries are not interchangeable. A 48 V battery cannot be used on a high-voltage hybrid and a high-voltage stack cannot be used on a low-voltage one, whatever a general compatibility list says, and no adapter changes that. Solis put it plainly on their own list: installing a non-compatible battery will void the inverter warranty. If you are not certain, ask us and we will check it against your part number before you order.

String design, battery limits and what is in the box

The details that decide whether this unit suits the job:

  • Battery is 48 V nominal, 40 – 60 V, lead-acid or lithium-ion, 190 A maximum charge and discharge, with an external temperature sensor included and BMS self-adaptation.
  • Two MPP trackers, two strings each, 26 A per tracker and 34 A Isc. 500 V maximum, 125 V start-up, 150 – 425 V MPPT window and a 200 – 425 V full-load window.
  • Maximum DC input is 10,400 W against an 8,000 W rating — a 1.3 oversize.
  • Off-grid peak is 16 kW for 10 seconds; maximum continuous AC passthrough is 50 A.
  • 20.5 kg, 330 × 580 × 237 mm, IP65, convection cooled at under 30 dB.
  • The datasheet's 99.90 % European efficiency is higher than its own 97.60 % maximum and cannot be right, so it is left off this page.

Frequently asked questions

Questions we get asked about this inverter

How much PV can I put on it?

10,400 W, across two trackers of two strings each at 26 A per tracker.

Which battery?

A 48 V nominal bank inside 40 – 60 V. At 190 A the cabling and the battery's own continuous rating usually decide the design rather than the inverter.

What is the peak output?

Twice rated power for ten seconds — 16 kW — which is what starts a large motor or a pump from the essential-load output.

Is it noisy?

No. It is convection cooled and quoted under 30 dB.
