US5000 4.8kWh Li-Ion Solar Battery 48V (excl. brackets)
Pylontech US series, 48 V rack module — The 48 V module the UK storage market is built on — 4.8 kWh, 95 % usable, and on almost every low-voltage compatibility list.
A home battery stores the solar your house does not use at the moment it is generated, and gives it back in the evening. What decides whether that is worth doing is not the headline capacity but three numbers together: how much of the pack you may actually use, how fast it will charge and discharge, and how many cycles it is good for.
About the Pylontech US series, 48 V rack module
The US5000 is the module that made low-voltage storage ordinary. It is a 48 V, 4.8 kWh rack module with 4.56 kWh usable, a 95 % depth of discharge and a cycle life over 8,000 — and, crucially, it is on the compatibility list of nearly every low-voltage hybrid inverter sold here rather than being tied to one brand.
Up to sixteen modules go in one string, so a system starts at 4.8 kWh and grows to about 77 kWh without changing anything else. It is a 19-inch rack format, so it stacks in a cabinet or on a floor stand, and it talks to the inverter over RS485 or CAN.
It is an indoor product: IP20, 0 to 55 °C charging and −10 to 55 °C discharging. A garage or plant room, not an outside wall.
What each stack size gives you
One module is a starting point, not the system. Up to sixteen go in a single string, and this is what each step gives you:
Which inverter will run this battery?
This is a 48 V nominal low-voltage battery, the architecture almost every low-voltage hybrid inverter in the UK is built around.
Because it is a 48 V module rather than a proprietary stack, it is on the approved list of most low-voltage hybrid inverters — Solis, Sunsynk, Fox's LV range, Growatt, Victron and others. What it will never work with is a high-voltage hybrid: a 48 V battery and a 300 – 900 V one are different architectures and no adapter bridges them.

Stack rules, cabling and what else the job needs
The details that decide whether this battery suits the system:
- 48 V nominal, 4.8 kWh nominal and 4.56 kWh usable at a 95 % depth of discharge.
- Charge and discharge current is 100 A normal, 101 – 120 A for up to 15 minutes and 121 – 200 A peak for 15 seconds.
- Up to 16 modules in a single string. Mixing module types in one string is what the US series is designed for, but check the inverter's own list before mixing generations.
- RS485 and CAN. The inverter must be set to the right battery option — on Solis that is PYLON_LV.
- 442 × 161 × 420 mm (W × H × D) and 39.7 kg per module. Plan the rack and the lift.
- IP20, indoor only. Charge 0 to 55 °C, discharge −10 to 55 °C, storage −20 to 45 °C.
- Design life 15+ years, cycle life over 8,000 at 25 °C.
Where this battery earns its place

Questions we get asked about this inverter
Will it work with my inverter?
If your inverter is a low-voltage hybrid with a 40 – 60 V battery window, almost certainly — the US series is on most manufacturers' approved lists. If it is a high-voltage hybrid, no: you need a high-voltage stack instead. Send us the inverter model and we will confirm before you order.
How much of the 4.8 kWh can I actually use?
4.56 kWh. The depth of discharge is 95 %, which is high for this class, and it is the usable figure you should compare between batteries rather than the nominal one.
How many can I put together?
Up to sixteen in one string, which is about 77 kWh. Most homes start with two or three.
Can it go outside?
No. It is IP20 and rated for indoor installation — a garage, utility room or plant room.
How long will it last?
Pylontech quote a 15+ year design life and over 8,000 cycles at 25 °C, which for a daily cycle is more than twenty years of throughput.
