SolaX 3kW G4-V2 Hybrid inverter with WiFi
SolaX X1-Hybrid G4 — 200 % PV oversizing, 150 % EPS for 10 seconds, and a battery window wide enough for a small stack.
A hybrid inverter does three jobs a string inverter cannot. It converts solar DC to AC; it charges and discharges a battery on the DC side, which avoids the double conversion an AC-coupled battery pays for; and when the grid fails it islands the house and keeps the EPS output alive from the battery.
About the SolaX X1-Hybrid G4
The X1-Hybrid G4 is the volume single-phase SolaX. It takes up to 200 % PV oversizing and 110 % AC overload output, so a large array on a 3.68 kW export limit still earns through the shoulder months, and the EPS output gives 150 % of rated power for ten seconds when something with a motor starts.
Two MPP trackers at 16 A each suit a split roof, and the built-in shadow tracking helps where a chimney or a tree clips part of the array. Wi-Fi is included on the V2 units, so nothing extra is needed to get the system onto SolaX Cloud.
It is IP65, convection cooled and quiet at under 30 dB, 482 × 417 × 181 mm and 24 kg, with integrated Type II surge protection on both DC and AC.
Which battery does this inverter take?
This inverter takes SolaX Triple Power or another approved stack, 80 – 480 V.
This model has a battery voltage window of 80 – 480 V.
This rule applies to the SolaX X1-Hybrid G4 single phase.
Lithium-ion or lead-acid, 30 A maximum continuous charge or discharge.
What we stock that fits this inverter:
String design, battery limits and what is in the box
The details that decide whether this unit suits the job:
- Battery is 80 – 480 V, lithium-ion or lead-acid, 30 A maximum continuous charge or discharge. That current is the practical limit on how fast a stack fills, whatever the stack could take.
- Two MPP trackers, one string each, 16 A per tracker and 20 A Isc. 600 V maximum, 90 V start-up, 70 – 550 V MPPT window, 360 V nominal.
- Every model is capped at 5,000 W per PV input, and the total maximum PV input power takes precedence over the array figure.
- EPS gives rated power continuously and 150 % for 10 seconds, switching in under 10 ms. On and off-grid parallel operation to 15 kW.
- An energy meter is required on every installation — the SolaX M1-40 single-phase CT meter is the part.
- The stock we hold is the G4-D version, which is not compatible with the Matebox.
- Intelligent load management can drive a heat pump, and the unit is VPP ready.
- 482 × 417 × 181 mm, 24 kg, IP65, natural cooling under 30 dB, −35 °C to +60 °C with derating above +45 °C.
Where this hybrid earns its place
The X1-Hybrid G4 is specified most often for these jobs.
Things worth knowing about this listing
- Wi-Fi is included with the G4 V2, so no separate Pocket Wi-Fi is needed.
- ClearRay Solar currently stock the G4-D version, which is NOT compatible with the Matebox.
- An energy meter is required for every installation. Please see SOLAX-M1-40.

Questions we get asked about this inverter
Which battery does it take?
A stack inside 80 – 480 V at up to 30 A — the SolaX Triple Power range is the straightforward pairing. This is not the same window as the three-phase X3 platforms, which want 120 – 800 V, so do not move a battery between them.
Do I need a meter?
Yes. SolaX require an energy meter on every installation; on single phase that is the M1-40 CT meter. It is not in the box.
Is Wi-Fi included?
Yes on the V2 units. There is no need to buy a Pocket Wi-Fi separately.
Will it work with a Matebox?
Not the version we stock. Ours is the G4-D, which is not Matebox compatible. Ask us if you need the Matebox variant.
What does 200 % oversizing actually mean here?
You may connect an array up to twice the inverter's rated power, subject to a 5,000 W ceiling per PV input and the model's total maximum PV input power. The gain is in winter and shoulder months.
