SolarEdge Cabling extension kit - in cases of 1 PCS connected to 2 Batteries

SolarEdge Commercial Storage cable kits — One per inverter, always — and a second kit only when two cabinets share one inverter.

A CSS site has two cabling questions and these are the answers to them, in the order they come up.

Overview

About the SolarEdge Commercial Storage cable kits

Every PCS050 battery inverter needs one CSS-OD 197 to PCS050 cable kit to reach its cabinet. That is one kit per inverter, without exception, and it is easy to leave off a schedule because the cabinet and the inverter are both complete products in themselves.

The second question only arises when a single PCS050 is carrying two battery cabinets, which is the maximum the inverter supports. That arrangement needs the cabling extension kit as well. At 1:1 it is not required, and the 204 kWh system package already includes it.

Compatibility

What does this fit?

This is the cabling between a CSS battery cabinet and its PCS050 inverter.

Two different kits, and they are not alternatives. One cable kit is needed per battery inverter, always. The extension kit is needed only where one PCS050 is connected to two battery cabinets.

What the job needs

The details that decide whether this suits the system:

  • One CSS-OD 197 to PCS050 cable kit per battery inverter.
  • The cabling extension kit is required only where one PCS050 is connected to two battery cabinets.
  • The 204.8 kWh system package already includes the extension kit — do not order it twice.
  • Maintain a 1:1 or 2:1 cabinet-to-inverter ratio. Two cabinets is the maximum per inverter.

Documents, advice and trade pricing

Every datasheet, certificate, installation manual and warranty document we hold for this product is in the Documents tab below. See the rest of our storage range, our hybrid inverters and our batteries, or email sales@clearraysolar.com if you would like us to check a pairing before you order.

Have questions?

Usable energy is the nominal capacity multiplied by the depth of discharge, and both figures are in the Technical Specifications. Most current lithium batteries allow 90% or more.

It needs to appear on your inverter manufacturer's approved battery list and the voltage ranges have to match. Send us your inverter model and we'll confirm compatibility before you order.

Most systems stack in modules up to a maximum number of units per installation, given in the datasheet. Keep to the same model, and buy the full stack together where budget allows.

Only where the IP rating and operating temperature range allow it - both are in the Technical Specifications. Cold reduces usable capacity, so a garage or utility space is usually the better location.

Yes, where the inverter supports timed or forced charging. Paired with a time-of-use tariff this is often the quickest route to a shorter payback.

Warranty terms, and the throughput or cycle count they are based on, are listed under the Warranty tab and in the manufacturer documentation.
