Solis IntelliHome (5-16)kWh-OD — IP66 and C5M anti-corrosion, 100 % usable, with smart heating to −20 °C.
A battery pays for itself by moving energy in time: solar generated at midday and electricity bought on an overnight rate, both spent in the evening. What decides whether it pays is the usable capacity, the charge rate and the cycle life.
About the Solis IntelliHome (5-16)kWh-OD
The IntelliHome OD series is Solis's own 48 V battery, built for outdoor installation: IP66, C5M anti-corrosion class, and an ambient range of −20 to +55 °C with a smart heating function that keeps it charging at the bottom of that.
Solis rate it at up to 100 % depth of discharge and over 6,000 cycles, which is roughly ten years of daily cycling. Up to eight units go in parallel.
The protection list is longer than most: a DC breaker, DC overcurrent fuses, an aerogel thermal insulation plate, a fire protection function and explosion release valves are all built in.
Which inverter will run this battery?
This is a 48 V low-voltage battery, the architecture the Solis low-voltage hybrid range is built around.
Solis publish the compatible inverter list on the datasheet: S6-EH1P(3-6)K-L-EU, S5-EH1P(3-6)K-L(Smart), S6-EH1P(3-10)K-L-PLUS, S6-EH1P(9.9-18)K03-NV-YD-L, S6-EH2P(5-8)K02-SV-YD-L, S6-EH2P(9.6-16)K03-SV-YD-L-US, S6-EH3P(5-18)K02-NV-YD-L, S6-EH3P(7-10)K02-LV-YD-L, S6-EA1P(3.6-6)K-L, S6-EO1P(4-6)K-48 and S6-EO1P(4-5)K-48-EU. It will not work on a high-voltage hybrid. Send us the inverter model and we will confirm before you order.

Stack rules, cabling and what else the job needs
The details that decide whether this battery suits the system:
- 51.2 V nominal with a 44.8 – 57.6 V operating window. Up to eight units in parallel.
- Depth of discharge up to 100 %, so the usable figure is the nominal figure. Cycle life over 6,000.
- Recommended charge and discharge is 0.5 C. Maximum discharge is 1 C on the 5 and 10 kWh and 0.5 C on the 16 kWh, which is why the 16 kWh unit's maximum current is the same as its recommended one.
- IP66 and anti-corrosion class C5M — the coastal rating. Floor standing or wall mounted, natural convection.
- Ambient −20 to +55 °C with the smart heating function; storage −10 to +45 °C. Altitude to 4,000 m.
- CAN and RS485. SOC and status indicators on the front.
- Built-in DC breaker, DC overcurrent fuses, aerogel thermal insulation plate, fire protection function and explosion release valves.

Solis 16 kWh technical data
Questions we get asked about this inverter
Will it work with my inverter?
If it is a Solis low-voltage hybrid, almost certainly — the datasheet lists eleven model families. If it is a high-voltage hybrid, no. Send us the model and we will confirm.
How much of it can I use?
Solis rate the battery at up to 100 % depth of discharge, so the usable figure is the nominal one.
Can it go outside?
Yes, and it is built for it: IP66, C5M anti-corrosion class and an ambient range down to −20 °C with the heater.
How many can I fit?
Up to eight in parallel.
Why does the 16 kWh have the same maximum and recommended current?
Because it is rated at 0.5 C both ways, where the 5 and 10 kWh units allow 1 C on discharge. It is a bigger battery at a gentler rate.
Documents, advice and trade pricing
Every datasheet, certificate, installation manual and warranty document we hold for this product is in the Documents tab below. See the rest of our battery range, our hybrid inverters and our solar panels, or email sales@clearraysolar.com if you would like us to check a battery and inverter pairing before you order.
Usable energy is the nominal capacity multiplied by the depth of discharge, and both figures are in the Technical Specifications. Most current lithium batteries allow 90% or more.
It needs to appear on your inverter manufacturer's approved battery list and the voltage ranges have to match. Send us your inverter model and we'll confirm compatibility before you order.
Most systems stack in modules up to a maximum number of units per installation, given in the datasheet. Keep to the same model, and buy the full stack together where budget allows.
Only where the IP rating and operating temperature range allow it - both are in the Technical Specifications. Cold reduces usable capacity, so a garage or utility space is usually the better location.
Yes, where the inverter supports timed or forced charging. Paired with a time-of-use tariff this is often the quickest route to a shorter payback.
Warranty terms, and the throughput or cycle count they are based on, are listed under the Warranty tab and in the manufacturer documentation.
