Solis S6-EH3P Solarator, three phase low voltage — Three-phase output from a 48 V battery, with 200 % overload and up to 320 A of battery current.

A hybrid inverter does three jobs a string inverter cannot. It converts solar DC to AC; it charges and discharges a battery on the DC side, which avoids the double conversion an AC-coupled battery pays for; and when the grid fails it islands the site and keeps a backup circuit alive from the battery.

About the Solis S6-EH3P Solarator, three phase low voltage

This is the unusual one: three-phase output from a low-voltage 48 V battery. It exists because 48 V modules are cheap, plentiful and familiar, and because a great many sites already own them. If you have a Pylontech US-series stack and a three-phase supply, this is the inverter that joins the two without replacing the battery.

Because the battery is low voltage, the current is high: 180 A on the 8K rising to 320 A on the 18K, split across two battery ports of 150 A each. The cabling and the battery's own continuous rating, not the inverter, are usually what limit a design here.

Backup is twice rated power for ten seconds with a switch under 10 ms, unbalanced output to 50 % of rated per phase, and dual backup ports for critical and non-critical loads.

This inverter takes Low voltage, 40 – 60 V nominal 48 V.

This model has a battery voltage window of 40 – 60 V, BMS communication over CAN / RS485.

Battery option to select when commissioning: PYLON_LV for Pylontech; otherwise the brand's own option, or "Lithium Battery LV" if the brand is not listed.

What we stock that fits this inverter:

Low voltage and high voltage batteries are not interchangeable. A 48 V battery cannot be used on a high-voltage hybrid and a high-voltage stack cannot be used on a low-voltage one, whatever a general compatibility list says, and no adapter changes that. Solis put it plainly on their own list: installing a non-compatible battery will void the inverter warranty. If you are not certain, ask us and we will check it against your part number before you order.

String design, battery limits and what is in the box

The details that decide whether this unit suits the job:

  • Battery is 48 V nominal, 40 – 60 V, lithium or lead-acid, two ports at 150 A each (175 A on the 18K), CAN or RS485.
  • Total battery current: 180 A on the 8K, 220 A on the 10K, 250 A on the 12K, 290 A on the 15K and 320 A on the 18K. Check the battery's own continuous rating and size the DC cabling for it.
  • Two MPP trackers. The 8K to 12K take three strings at 20 A / 40 A; the 15K and 18K take four strings at 40 A / 42 A per tracker.
  • MPPT window is 200 – 850 V with a 1,000 V maximum and 160 V start-up. Usable PV is 160 % of rated: 12.8 kW on the 8K to 28.8 kW on the 18K.
  • Maximum power per phase is 50 % of rated on the 8K to 15K, 40 % on the 18K. Continuous AC passthrough is 50 A.
  • Up to 6 units in parallel, for 90 kW of backup on the 15K.
  • 430 × 660 × 305 mm, 42 kg, IP66, fan cooled at under 65 dB, altitude to 4,000 m.
  • DC is MC4 for PV and a screw terminal for the battery; AC is a screw terminal.

Questions we get asked about this inverter

Why choose a low-voltage three-phase hybrid?

Because the battery market at 48 V is much wider and usually cheaper than at high voltage, and because a great many sites already own 48 V modules. The trade-off is current: this platform moves up to 320 A on the DC side, so the cabling is heavier than a high-voltage equivalent.

Which batteries?

Any 48 V nominal battery on the Solis low-voltage compatibility list, inside 40 – 60 V. Pylontech's US-series is the common answer. A high-voltage stack cannot be used on this inverter.

Can it run unbalanced loads?

Yes, to 50 % of rated power on one phase for the 8K to 15K, and 40 % on the 18K, on both the grid and backup ports.

Is it certified for Belgium?

The 15 kW listing carries a note from us saying it now is. If that matters to your installation, ask us to confirm the current certificate for the exact model and firmware before you order.

G98 covers installations up to 3.68kW per phase and is notified to your DNO after commissioning. Anything larger needs G99 approval agreed beforehand. We can flag which one your design falls under.

A hybrid inverter takes a DC-coupled battery directly. A standard string inverter needs an AC-coupled battery alongside it. The Technical Specifications show which type this unit is.

Yes, up to the maximum DC power figure in the specifications. Modest oversizing is normal practice - it lifts output in winter and at either end of the day, at the cost of brief clipping at midday peak.

An MPPT tracks the optimum operating point for a string of panels. You want one per roof orientation or pitch, because panels facing different directions on a single tracker drag each other down.
