SolaX X3-FIT G4 RetroFit — 10 kW of three-phase retrofit with an 18 kVA ten-second EPS peak.

An AC-coupled battery inverter exists for one situation: there is already a working solar system, and replacing the inverter to add a battery would mean throwing away something that works. It sits on the AC side instead, charges the battery from the existing array or from the grid, and leaves the original inverter alone.

About the SolaX X3-FIT G4 RetroFit

The X3-FIT G4 is SolaX's three-phase retrofit. It moves up to 10 kW between the AC side and a 180 to 800 V battery, and carries an EPS output rated at the full machine that peaks at 18 kVA for ten seconds.

Maximum efficiency is 98.0 % with a European figure of 97.7 %, and battery charge and discharge efficiencies are 98.5 % and 97.5 %.

IP65, −35 to +60 °C with derating above 45, and quiet at under 45 dB.

What does this work with?

This is a three-phase AC-coupled battery inverter with a 180 – 800 V battery window and an EPS output.

The battery window is 180 – 800 V, lithium-ion or lead-acid, at 30 A maximum continuous. There is no PV input. The EPS function needs an external backup box, and capacity beyond one unit goes through an X3 EPS Parallel Box.

The details that decide whether this suits the system:

  • No PV input. Battery window 180 – 800 V, lithium-ion or lead-acid, 30 A maximum continuous charge and discharge.
  • Maximum AC input apparent power is 20 kVA at 32 A; AC output is 10 kW, 11 kVA and 16.1 A.
  • EPS is 10 kW nominal with an 18 kVA ten-second peak and a switch time under 10 ms. It requires an external backup box to be fully used.
  • For more capacity, the X3-PBOX-60kW-G2 connects up to six AC-coupled inverters to 60 kW and the X3-PBOX-150kW-G2 up to ten to 150 kW.
  • 503 × 503 × 199 mm and 30 kg, IP65, natural cooling at under 45 dB.
  • −35 to +60 °C with derating above +45 °C, storage −40 to +70 °C, humidity 0 – 100 %, under 3,000 m.
  • Meter optional, external control over RS485, Pocket Wi-Fi with Pocket LAN and 4G optional, DRM, USB upgrade and optional NTC.
  • Internal consumption is under 40 W on standby and under 5 W idle.
