SolaX X1-FIT G4 RetroFit — Retrofits a high-voltage SolaX battery behind any brand of single-phase inverter.

An AC-coupled battery inverter exists for one situation: there is already a working solar system, and replacing the inverter to add a battery would mean throwing away something that works. It sits on the AC side instead, charges the battery from the existing array or from the grid, and leaves the original inverter alone.

About the SolaX X1-FIT G4 RetroFit

The X1-FIT G4 is the brand-agnostic one. SolaX rate it for use with any single-phase inverter, so it suits a site whose original inverter is long out of production or from a manufacturer with no retrofit path of its own.

It runs up to 97 % maximum efficiency, charges from the grid as well as from solar, and responds in under half a second — quick enough for grid trading applications.

High-voltage battery support keeps the cabling thin, it is rated for indoor or outdoor use, and it is monitored through SolaX Cloud. One CT is supplied.

This is an AC-coupled battery inverter that works behind any brand of single-phase PV inverter.

Compatible with any brand of single-phase inverter, which is the reason to choose it over a manufacturer's own retrofit. One to three SolaX batteries per inverter, and they must all be the same capacity — a 3.0 kWh and a 5.8 kWh cannot share one X1-FIT.

The details that decide whether this suits the system:

  • Compatible with any brand of single-phase PV inverter. No PV input of its own.
  • 6 kW maximum charge and discharge.
  • Minimum one SolaX battery per X1-FIT and maximum three.
  • All batteries on one inverter must be the same capacity. A 3.0 kWh and a 5.8 kWh cannot be mixed on one X1-FIT.
  • One CT is supplied with the inverter. The Wi-Fi or LAN stick is a separate order.
  • Natural cooling, quiet, rated for indoor or outdoor use, monitored through SolaX Cloud.
  • Response time under 0.5 s, which is what makes it usable for grid trading.
  • UK units are tested and certified to G98 or G99 on the current firmware and hardware revision; our stock meets that.

  • All batteries on one X1-FIT must be the same capacity. It is not possible to connect a 3.0 kWh and a 5.8 kWh battery to the same inverter.
  • Supplied with one CT. The Wi-Fi or LAN stick is a separate order.
  • This inverter is tested and certified to G98 or G99 only on the most recent firmware and hardware revision. All ClearRay Solar stock meets that criteria.
