Mersen fuse-holder for 22x58 fuse-links T331079 CMS22 single pole

Tesla Gateway fuse protection — The 22 x 58 mm fuses and holder a Gateway installation will not pass without.

Up to 1 April 2023 a Tesla Gateway arrived with its fuses and fuse holders in the kit. It no longer does, and the requirement did not go away with them: the installation still has to be capable of withstanding a 16 kA short circuit.

Overview

About the Tesla Gateway fuse protection

That leaves the installer to supply them. A single-phase Gateway takes one 100 A fuse; a three-phase Gateway takes three 80 A fuses. Both are 22 × 58 mm ceramic cartridges rated at 500 VAC without an indicator.

The holder is a Mersen Modulostar CMS22, single pole, one per fuse. It is DIN rail mounted and takes any 22 × 58 mm link.

Compatibility

What does this fit?

This is the AC fusing a Tesla Gateway installation has needed since April 2023.

These are the parts Tesla removed from the Gateway kit on 1 April 2023. The installation still has to withstand a 16 kA short circuit, so the installer now supplies them: one 100 A fuse on a single-phase job, three 80 A fuses on a three-phase job, each in its own CMS22 single-pole holder.

What the job needs

The details that decide whether this suits the system:

  • Single-phase Gateway installation: 1 × 100 A fuse (TES-FUSE-100A22X58) and 1 × CMS22 holder.
  • Three-phase Gateway installation: 3 × 80 A fuses (TES-FUSE-80A22X58) and 3 × CMS22 holders.
  • Both fuse links are 22 × 58 mm ceramic cartridges, 500 VAC, without an indicator.
  • The 100 A fuse is already included in the Tesla Powerwall 3 and Gateway package — do not order it twice.
  • The holder is a Mersen Modulostar CMS22 single pole, part T331079, without indicator.

Things worth knowing about this listing

These notes come from us and from the manufacturer, and they are the ones that most often cause a problem after delivery:
  • This is a single-pole holder, so a three-phase Gateway installation needs three of them, one for each 80 A fuse.

Frequently asked questions

Questions we get asked about this inverter

Which fuse do I need?

One 100 A fuse for a single-phase Gateway, or three 80 A fuses for a three-phase Gateway.

Are these still supplied with the Gateway?

No. Tesla stopped supplying fuses and fuse holders with the Gateway kit on 1 April 2023.

Do I need a holder for every fuse?

Yes. The CMS22 is a single-pole holder, so a three-phase job needs three of them.

What brand will I receive?

The fuse links are Lawson LFN22M by default, but while we move between suppliers you may receive a mixture of brands at the same size and rating.
