Superseded on new Powerwall installations. Tesla has replaced this kit with the Tesla Remote Energy Meter Kit (TES-2083764-00-A) for new Powerwall systems. This kit remains the part for existing installations that already use it.

This kit lets a Tesla Wall Connector see the whole property's consumption and trim its charging current in real time, so the total load stays inside what the supply can carry. On a house with a limited main fuse it is the difference between charging at a fixed reduced rate all the time and charging at full rate whenever the rest of the house is quiet.

It measures with a Neurio power meter and a CT clamp, reporting back to the Wall Connector over RS-485.
