Solis 100kW S6 3 Phase 10x MPPT

Solis · S6-GC Commercial Three Phase

Solis 100kW S6 3 Phase 10x MPPT

Solis S6-GC Commercial Three Phase — 80 kW to 125 kW with ten trackers, built around large-format bifacial modules.

The module industry moved to 182 mm and 210 mm cells and string currents went up with them. A lot of installed commercial inverters cannot accept that current, which quietly caps what a new roof can be designed with. The Solis S6-GC range is built the other way round: up to 21 A per string, so a modern high-current bifacial module is a design input rather than a problem.

Overview

About the Solis S6-GC Commercial Three Phase

Eight or ten MPP trackers on a single unit is the other half of the argument. A big roof is rarely one plane; ten trackers means ten independent sub-arrays, each finding its own maximum power point, all inside one enclosure with one AC connection and one commissioning visit.

At 93 to 96 kg with an integrated DC switch and IP66, this is a unit designed to be lifted into place once and left alone, with remote firmware upgrade and optional power line communication so nobody has to climb back up to it.

For the installer

String design, certification and what is in the box

The details that decide whether this unit suits the job:

  • 8 or 10 MPP trackers, 16 or 20 strings, 1,100 V system voltage, 160 – 1,000 V MPPT window.
  • String current up to 21 A per string — matched to 182 mm and 210 mm modules and to bifacial gain.
  • Integrated DC switch fitted as standard; integrated AC switch optional.
  • AFCI 2.0 and PID recovery both optional; PLC communication optional.
  • DC side supports Y connectors, which halves the number of home runs on a long array.
  • Certified to G99, IEC 61727, EN 50549-1/2 and VDE 4110.
Applications

Where this inverter earns its place

The S6-GC Commercial Three Phase is specified most often for these jobs.

Industrial rooftopsWhere the array is measured in hundreds of kilowatts and inverter count drives install cost.
Ground mount and solar farmsTen trackers per unit reduces combiner boxes and DC trenching.
Bifacial installationsDesigned around the higher string current bifacial modules actually produce.
Agricultural estatesMultiple large buildings on one connection.
Corporate PPA sitesRemote firmware upgrade and string-level data suit assets under a long-term performance obligation.
Cold-store and data-adjacent sitesContinuous daytime base load absorbs generation without export constraint.
Battery and storage

Can I add a battery to this?

This is a grid-tied PV inverter. It converts solar DC into AC for the property and the grid, and it has no battery port. That is not a shortcoming — it is the right architecture for a system without storage, and it is why it costs what it does.

If storage is on the roadmap, you have two routes. Add an AC-coupled battery system alongside this inverter later, which works with any PV inverter and needs no change to what is already installed. Or choose a hybrid inverter now and pay for a battery port you will use in a year or two. We are happy to talk that trade-off through before you order.

  • UK: an Export Power Manager is still required for the S6-GC(80-125)K range.

Frequently asked questions

Questions we get asked about this inverter

Why ten trackers rather than a central inverter?

String inverters with many trackers fail small. A central inverter failing takes the whole array off; one of several string inverters failing takes a fraction. On a roof, that difference dominates the lifetime yield calculation.

Does it suit bifacial modules?

Yes — that is the point of the 21 A string rating. Bifacial rear-side gain pushes string current above what older commercial inverters accept.

What is the Y connector support for?

It lets two strings be paralleled at the array and brought back on one home run, which cuts DC cable and terminations substantially on long rows.

Is AFCI included?

AFCI 2.0 is an option on this range rather than standard. Specify it if your insurer or your client asks for arc-fault detection.
