Solis S6-EH3P(5-10)K-H — The volume three-phase domestic hybrid: 160 % PV, full unbalanced backup and 10 kW of it.
A hybrid inverter does three jobs a string inverter cannot. It converts solar DC to AC; it charges and discharges a battery on the DC side, which avoids the double conversion an AC-coupled battery pays for; and when the grid fails it islands the house and keeps a backup circuit alive from the battery.
About the Solis S6-EH3P(5-10)K-H
This is the three-phase S6 most UK homes with a three-phase supply end up with. What makes it usable rather than merely three-phase is the unbalanced output: up to 50 % of rated power on a single phase, on both the grid port and the backup port. A three-phase inverter that insists on balanced output cannot run a house, because a house is not balanced.
Backup is 1.6 times rated power for 60 seconds and switches in under 10 ms, so on the 10K that is 16 kVA for a minute — enough to start most domestic motor loads while the battery takes over.
It is naturally cooled with no fans, IP66, and quiet at under 47 dB, which matters because a three-phase hybrid usually ends up in a utility room or garage rather than outside.
Which battery does this inverter take?
This inverter takes High voltage, roughly 120 – 800 V depending on model.
This model has a battery voltage window of 120 – 600 V, up to 700 V on the current revision, BMS communication over CAN / RS485.
Battery option to select when commissioning: PYLON_HV for Pylontech; otherwise "Lithium Battery HV".
Models the manufacturer names as compatible: Pylontech Force-H1-V2, Force-H2-V2, Force-H3, PowerCube-M1C/M2/M3A-100/M3A-180/M5/M7, PowerCube-XH series and Pylontech M1; plus Pytes HV48100, Raystech, Renon Xtreme and others.

String design, battery limits and what is in the box
The details that decide whether this unit suits the job:
- Battery is high voltage lithium, 120 – 600 V. The current revision of the datasheet adds a footnote that the maximum battery voltage is 700 V, which is what the "HV 700VDC" listing refers to.
- Battery current is 25 A on the 5K and 6K, 50 A on the 8K and 10K.
- 5K and 6K have three MPP trackers with one string each at 16 A; the 8K and 10K have four, again one string each at 16 A.
- MPPT window is 200 – 850 V with a 1,000 V maximum and a 160 V start-up. Usable PV input is 160 % of rated: 8 kW on the 5K, 16 kW on the 10K.
- Maximum phase imbalance is 100 % and maximum power per phase is 50 % of rated, on grid and on backup.
- Integrated DC switch is fitted. AFCI 2.0 is optional.
- Battery and AC use quick-connection plugs rather than a terminal block, which is faster on site but means the supplied plugs are the only ones that fit.
- 5K and 6K are 600 × 500 × 210 mm and 27.6 kg; the 8K and 10K are 230 mm deep and 30.2 kg.
Where this hybrid earns its place
The S6-EH3P(5-10)K-H is specified most often for these jobs.
Things worth knowing about this listing
- Supplied with the S2-WL-ST data logger stick (Wi-Fi and LAN) and a three-phase Eastron meter carrying Solis-specific firmware.

Questions we get asked about this inverter
Which battery does it take?
A high-voltage lithium stack inside 120 – 600 V, and up to 700 V on the current revision. Pylontech's Force H and PowerCube ranges are the usual answer here and Solis list them as PYLON_HV. A 48 V battery will not work on this inverter at all.
Can it run one phase harder than the others?
Yes. Up to 50 % of rated power on any one phase, with 100 % allowable imbalance, and the same on the backup port. That is what lets it run a normal house rather than a balanced three-phase load.
How much can the backup port supply?
Rated power continuously and 1.6 times rated for 60 seconds — 16 kVA on the 10K.
Is a meter included?
On the listings that say so, yes: an Eastron three-phase meter carrying Solis-specific firmware, plus the S2-WL-ST Wi-Fi and LAN data logger. The "Before you order" section on this page says which.
Does it need fans?
No. It is convection cooled, which is one less wearing part and the reason it is quiet enough for a utility room.
