S6 8.0kW Triple MPPT - Single Phase with DC
Solis S6-GR1P 8–10K, Triple MPPT — Three trackers and 20 A each, on a single phase — for the roof that faces three ways.
Three MPP trackers on a single-phase inverter is unusual, and it exists for a specific and increasingly common problem: a house whose usable roof faces three different ways. A front pitch, a rear pitch and a dormer or an extension. Two trackers force two of those onto the same string; three do not.
About the Solis S6-GR1P 8–10K, Triple MPPT
Each tracker takes 20 A, which is generous and deliberate — it is sized for 182 mm and 210 mm large-format modules, where string current has risen well past what older inverters were designed around. Combined with a 50 V start-up and a 50 – 500 V MPPT window, that means short strings on small pitches are viable rather than marginal.
It carries AFCI 2.0 arc-fault detection and an integrated DC switch as standard, plus multi-peak scanning for complex shading and 24-hour load consumption monitoring. Cooling is natural convection assisted by an internal fan, quoted under 40 dB(A), in a 335 × 510 × 220 mm case at 16.2 kg, rated IP66.
String design, certification and what is in the box
The details that decide whether this unit suits the job:
- Three MPP trackers, one string each, 20 A per tracker and 25 A Isc — sized for large-format and bifacial modules.
- 550 V maximum input, 60 V start-up, 50 – 500 V MPPT window, 330 V nominal.
- AFCI 2.0 and the integrated DC switch are both fitted as standard on this model, not optional.
- Multi-peak scanning finds the true global maximum under complex partial shading.
- Integrated CT and meter interface with export power control and 24-hour load monitoring.
- 8 kW on a single phase is a G99 application, not a G98 notification. Apply before you order the panels.
- Cooling is natural convection with an internal fan, under 40 dB(A). AC connection is an OT terminal.
Where this inverter earns its place
The S6-GR1P 8–10K, Triple MPPT is specified most often for these jobs.
Can I add a battery to this?
This is a grid-tied PV inverter. It converts solar DC into AC for the property and the grid, and it has no battery port. That is not a shortcoming — it is the right architecture for a system without storage, and it is why it costs what it does.
If storage is on the roadmap, you have two routes. Add an AC-coupled battery system alongside this inverter later, which works with any PV inverter and needs no change to what is already installed. Or choose a hybrid inverter now and pay for a battery port you will use in a year or two. We are happy to talk that trade-off through before you order.

Questions we get asked about this inverter
Why three trackers rather than two?
Because a lot of UK roofs offer three usable planes rather than two. With two trackers, two of those planes have to share, and the shared string performs at the worse of the two all day. Three trackers means three independent maximum power points.
Will my DNO allow 8 kW on a single phase?
It is a G99 application rather than a G98 notification, and the answer depends on your local network. Many will approve it with an export limit. Apply early — before you commit to the panels.
Is the DC isolator included?
Yes, integrated as standard on this model, along with AFCI 2.0 arc-fault detection.
Can I add a battery?
No. This is a grid-tied PV inverter with no battery port. Solis make single-phase hybrids if storage is the goal — ask us.
Is it noisy?
It uses natural convection assisted by an internal fan and is quoted under 40 dB(A). Quieter than most fan-cooled units, but not silent like the smaller convection-only models.
Why are some figures missing from the table?
The datasheet we can source for this model is the Brazilian edition, which quotes a 220 V / 60 Hz grid. The DC, efficiency and mechanical figures are the same everywhere and are shown. We have deliberately not carried across per-phase AC current figures that would be wrong for a UK 230 V / 50 Hz supply. Ask us and we will get the UK sheet from Solis.
