Sigenergy Sigenstor Energy Controller 6.0 kW Single Phase

Sigenergy · SigenStor Energy Controller, single phase

Sigenergy Sigenstor Energy Controller 6.0 kW Single Phase

Sigenergy SigenStor Energy Controller, single phase — A 2.0 DC/AC ratio, 150 % off-grid peak and a stack that can also hold a DC EV charger.

A hybrid inverter does three jobs a string inverter cannot. It converts solar DC to AC; it charges and discharges a battery on the DC side, which avoids the double conversion an AC-coupled battery pays for; and when the grid fails it islands the house and keeps the backup output alive from the battery.

Overview

About the Sigenergy SigenStor Energy Controller, single phase

SigenStor is not a wall box with a battery beside it. It is a tower: the Energy Controller on top, one to six battery modules under it, and optionally a DC EV charger in the same stack — solar inverter, battery PCS, battery pack, EV DC charger and EMS in one product. This listing is the Energy Controller, the module that does the converting and the managing.

Two figures make it worth the money on a British roof. The DC/AC ratio goes to 2.0, so a 10 kWp array on a 5 kW controller is a supported design rather than a compromise, and winter output rises accordingly. And the off-grid peak is 150 % of rated power for ten seconds, which is what starts a pump or a compressor without stalling the system.

Battery compatibility

Which battery does this inverter take?

This inverter takes SigenStor BAT series.

This model has a battery voltage window of 300 – 600 V.

This rule applies to the SigenStor Energy Controller (all SP, TP and TPLV models).

1 to 6 modules per controller. Battery module voltage range 300 – 600 V on single phase and three phase low voltage; 600 – 900 V on the three phase controller.

What we stock that fits this inverter:

The single-phase controller takes a 300 – 600 V stack and the three-phase controller a 600 – 900 V one. Both are SigenStor BAT modules, but a stack built for one controller is the wrong voltage for the other, so size it against the controller in front of you. Ask us if you are not certain.
For the installer

String design, battery limits and what is in the box

The details that decide whether this unit suits the job:

  • Battery is the SigenStor BAT series, one to six modules per controller, 300 – 600 V on this single-phase platform. The three-phase controller uses 600 – 900 V instead, so the stacks are not interchangeable between them.
  • MPP trackers rise with the model: two up to 6.0 kW, three on the 8.0 kW and four on the 10.0 and 12.0 kW, one string each at 16 A and 20 A short circuit.
  • 600 V maximum DC, 350 V nominal, 100 V start-up and a 50 – 550 V MPPT window — a low window that suits short strings.
  • DC/AC ratio up to 2.0: 10 kWp of PV on the 5.0 kW, 24 kWp on the 12.0 kW.
  • The 0 ms backup figure is the load-side disruption time and it needs the Sigen Energy Gateway fitted alongside the Controller and the battery, with the Controller rated above the total house load. Without the Gateway there is still a backup output, but not a break-free one.
  • Off-grid peak is 150 % of rated power for 10 seconds.
  • 3.0 to 6.0 kW are 700 × 300 × 245 mm, 18 kg and convection cooled; 8.0 to 12.0 kW are 260 mm deep, 36 kg and fan cooled.
  • Sigenergy's own footnote says the 8.0 to 12.0 kW single-phase models are only available in specific regions. We stock them — ask us to confirm availability and support for your installation.
  • IP66, −30 °C to +60 °C, to 4,000 m, with WLAN, Ethernet, RS485 and the optional Sigen CommMod for cellular.
Applications

Where this hybrid earns its place

The SigenStor Energy Controller, single phase is specified most often for these jobs.

Large array, small inverterDC/AC ratio up to 2.0.
Backup that must not blink0 ms load-side disruption with the Sigen Energy Gateway.
Homes that will add an EV DC chargerThe charger stacks into the same tower.
Split or shaded roofsUp to four MPP trackers.
Motor and pump loads150 % peak output for 10 seconds off grid.

Things worth knowing about this listing

These notes come from us and from the manufacturer, and they are the ones that most often cause a problem after delivery:
  • The 0 ms backup figure is the load-side disruption time and it needs the Sigen Energy Gateway fitted with the controller and the battery, with the controller rated above the total house load. Without a gateway there is still a backup output, but not a break-free one.

Frequently asked questions

Questions we get asked about this inverter

Is the backup really instantaneous?

It can be: Sigenergy quote 0 ms load-side disruption. That figure needs the Sigen Energy Gateway installed with the Controller and the battery, and the Controller rated above the total house load. Without the Gateway you still get a backup output, but not a seamless one.

Which battery does it take?

SigenStor BAT modules, one to six per controller, on a 300 – 600 V window. The three-phase controller runs 600 – 900 V, so a stack built for one will not suit the other.

How much solar can I connect?

Up to twice the controller's rated power — 10 kWp on the 5.0 kW, 24 kWp on the 12.0 kW — inside a 50 – 550 V MPPT window at 16 A per tracker.

Can I add an EV charger later?

Yes. SigenStor takes a DC EV charging module into the same stack, which is one of the reasons to choose the platform in the first place.

Is the 10 kW single phase available in the UK?

Sigenergy list the 8.0 to 12.0 kW single-phase controllers as available in specific regions only. We hold stock; ask us and we will confirm the position for your installation before you order.
