Sigenergy SigenStack Battery 12.0 kWh

Sigenergy SigenStack BAT 12.0 — 12.06 kWh a module, 253 kWh a system, with aerosol fire suppression built in.

A home battery stores the solar your house does not use at the moment it is generated, and gives it back in the evening. What decides whether that is worth doing is not the headline capacity but three numbers together: how much of the pack you may actually use, how fast it will charge and discharge, and how many cycles it is good for.

Overview

About the Sigenergy SigenStack BAT 12.0

SigenStack is the commercial version of the same idea: 314 Ah cells rated for 10,000 cycles, 12.06 kWh a module, four to twenty-one modules for up to 253 kWh in one system.

What separates it from a domestic stack is the safety and the servicing. Fire suppression is aerosol with a smoke sensor and an exhaust system, cooling is smart air rather than convection, and the rating is IP66 with no routine maintenance expected.

Charge and discharge is 0.5C nominal and 1C maximum, so a 253 kWh system moves 126 kW continuously — which is what makes it worth putting behind a 125 kW hybrid inverter.

What each stack size gives you

A system is four to twenty-one modules, seven to a stack:

Which inverter will run this battery?

This is a module for a SigenStack commercial tower, 550 – 1,100 V through a SigenStack battery controller.

SigenStack is built for the Sigen Hybrid Inverter series — the M1 HYA range. A stack is a MAIN base unit, a SigenStack BC battery controller and four to twenty-one BAT 12.0 modules, seven modules to a stack and up to three stacks in a system.

Hybrid inverter platforms in our range that take this architecture:

Inverter platforms
Sigenergy Sigen Hybrid Inverter M1 HYAThree phase, 100M1-HYA, 110M1-HYA, 125M1-HYA, 50M1-HYA and others

Inverters we stock that will run it:

SigenStack is a closed system: the BAT 12.0 modules, the base unit and the battery controller are matched to each other and to the inverter, and no third-party battery can be connected. A stack needs the MAIN base unit and a battery controller as well as the modules themselves.
For the installer

Stack rules, cabling and what else the job needs

The details that decide whether this battery suits the system:

  • A system is the MAIN base unit, a SigenStack BC battery controller and four to twenty-one BAT 12.0 modules. Seven modules per stack, up to three stacks.
  • The battery controller sets the current: M2-0.5C and M2-0.5C-BST are 157 A nominal, M2-1C-BST is 314 A. All are 180 A maximum to and from the inverter on a 550 – 1,100 V window.
  • Module is 768 × 300 × 363 mm and 107 kg. A four-module stack with base and controller is 1,643 mm tall and 508 kg; seven modules is 2,543 mm and 829 kg.
  • Floor standing only, and the floor has to take it.
  • Fire suppression is aerosol with a smoke sensor and exhaust. Noise under 70 dB, IP66, −20 to +55 °C, to 4,000 m with derating from 2,000 m.
  • Compatible with the Sigen Hybrid Inverter series over CAN.

Frequently asked questions

Questions we get asked about this inverter

What makes a working system?

A MAIN base unit, a SigenStack BC battery controller and four to twenty-one BAT 12.0 modules. This listing is one module.

How much power can it move?

0.5C nominal and 1C maximum. On a 253 kWh system that is about 126 kW continuous, limited in practice by the inverter and the battery controller you choose.

Which inverter?

The Sigen Hybrid Inverter series — the M1 HYA range. It is not a general-purpose commercial battery.

Does it need maintenance?

Sigenergy design it to be free of regular maintenance: no fans to service, and a gas detector rated to stay accurate for ten years.

Have questions?

Usable energy is the nominal capacity multiplied by the depth of discharge, and both figures are in the Technical Specifications. Most current lithium batteries allow 90% or more.

It needs to appear on your inverter manufacturer's approved battery list and the voltage ranges have to match. Send us your inverter model and we'll confirm compatibility before you order.

Most systems stack in modules up to a maximum number of units per installation, given in the datasheet. Keep to the same model, and buy the full stack together where budget allows.

Only where the IP rating and operating temperature range allow it - both are in the Technical Specifications. Cold reduces usable capacity, so a garage or utility space is usually the better location.

Yes, where the inverter supports timed or forced charging. Paired with a time-of-use tariff this is often the quickest route to a shorter payback.

Warranty terms, and the throughput or cycle count they are based on, are listed under the Warranty tab and in the manufacturer documentation.
