Sigenergy M1 80kW Hybrid Inverter HYB
Sigenergy Sigen Hybrid Inverter M1 — 50 to 110 kW of three-phase hybrid with a backup transfer time of zero milliseconds.
Commercial storage is a different calculation from domestic storage. The question is not whether the evening peak is covered but how much of a site's load profile can be moved, how hard the cabinet can be cycled, and what happens to the rest of the building when the grid goes.
About the Sigenergy Sigen Hybrid Inverter M1
The M1 answers all three at once. It takes up to 220 kW of array across as many as eight MPP trackers, charges and discharges a SigenStack battery at up to 121 kW, and carries a backup output rated at the full machine with a load-side disruption time of zero milliseconds.
Efficiency is 98.3 % at 380 or 400 Vac and 98.5 % at 480. It is IP66, smart air cooled, and rated from −30 to +60 °C and to 5,000 m with derating above 4,000 — a machine for a yard, not a plant room.
Four to twenty-one SigenStack BAT 12.0 modules go on the DC side, so the same inverter covers a small commercial roof and a site with hundreds of kilowatt-hours behind it.
What does this work with?
This is a three-phase commercial hybrid: PV, battery and a zero-disruption backup output in one machine, with SigenStack modules on the DC side.
The battery is SigenStack BAT 12.0 modules under a SigenStack BC M2-0.5C-BST or M2-1C-BST controller, four to twenty-one modules per system. Backup runs through a Sigen energy gateway, connected to the inverter's AC output port.
Array, battery and backup
The details that decide whether this suits the system:
- 1,100 V maximum DC input, 160 – 1,000 V MPPT window, 180 V start-up, two PV strings per tracker at 40 A and 60 A short-circuit.
- Battery is SigenStack BAT 12.0 with a BC M2-0.5C-BST or M2-1C-BST controller, four to twenty-one modules, 180 A maximum operating current.
- Above eighteen battery modules the PV string open-circuit voltage has a floor: more than 805 V at nineteen modules, more than 870 V at twenty and more than 935 V at twenty-one. Four to eighteen modules have no such requirement.
- Backup output is rated at the full machine with a load-side disruption time of 0 ms, and peaks at 1.5 times rated power for ten seconds up to the 100 kW model.
- Maximum AC input apparent power is 100 to 160 kVA depending on model, and continuous grid-to-load passthrough runs from 83.6 A to 183.8 A.
- 1,097 × 668 × 340 mm and 99 to 105 kg. IP66, smart air cooling, −30 to +60 °C, 0 – 100 % humidity, 5,000 m with derating above 4,000 m.
- WLAN, Fast Ethernet, RS485 and the Sigen CommMod for 4G/3G/2G. For a gateway installation the inverter connects through its AC output port.

Questions we get asked about this inverter
What battery does it take?
SigenStack BAT 12.0 modules under a SigenStack BC M2 controller, four to twenty-one per system.
Is the backup really break-free?
Sigenergy quote a load-side disruption time of 0 ms, measured with the inverter's total power above the total load and a Sigen energy gateway fitted. Without the gateway there is still a backup output, but not a break-free one.
Why does the datasheet set a minimum PV string voltage?
Only above eighteen battery modules: the string open-circuit voltage has to clear 805 V at nineteen modules, 870 V at twenty and 935 V at twenty-one. Below nineteen there is no special requirement.
Can it go outdoors?
Yes. IP66, smart air cooled, −30 to +60 °C.
How efficient is it?
98.3 % maximum at 380 or 400 Vac, 98.5 % at 480 Vac, with European efficiency between 97.9 and 98.0 %.
