Sigenergy M1 50kW PV Inverter

Sigenergy · Sigen PV Inverter M1

Sigenergy M1 50kW PV Inverter

Sigenergy Sigen PV Inverter M1 — 75 kg for 100 kW, and no data logger needed when you parallel them.

Sigenergy are a newer name in commercial PV and the M1 is their argument for why that is not a disadvantage. A 100 kW inverter that weighs 75 kg is unusually light for its class, and that translates directly into cheaper transport, easier lifting and simpler mounting on a retrofit building.

Overview

About the Sigenergy Sigen PV Inverter M1

The feature that saves the most time on site is parallel operation without a data logger. Multiple M1 units connect to one another and present a single monitored system, so a 500 kW roof does not need a separate communications box, its own power supply and its own commissioning step.

Two safety details stand out. Industry-leading AFCI detection covers the DC arc-fault risk. And an instant PV reverse-connection alert catches a polarity error at the moment it is made, rather than at commissioning — on a large array with hundreds of connectors, that is a genuinely useful thing for the person doing the wiring.

For the installer

String design, certification and what is in the box

The details that decide whether this unit suits the job:

  • 4 to 8 MPP trackers depending on model, 2 PV strings per MPPT, 32 A or 40 A per MPPT, 50 A short-circuit.
  • 1,100 V maximum, 180 V start-up, 160 – 1,000 V MPPT window, 600 V nominal.
  • Parallel connection of multiple units with no data logger required.
  • Instant PV reverse-connection alert during installation.
  • AFCI, insulation monitoring, residual current monitoring, DC/AC Type II surge protection and anti-islanding all fitted.
  • 918 × 640 × 340 mm, 75 kg, IP66, smart air cooling, −30 °C to +60 °C.
  • MC4 DC (max 6 mm²), OT/DT AC terminals (max 240 mm²), WLAN / Fast Ethernet / RS485 / Sigen CommMod.
Applications

Where this inverter earns its place

The Sigen PV Inverter M1 is specified most often for these jobs.

Large commercial rooftops50 kW to 125 kW per unit.
Multi-unit installationsParallel operation without a separate data logger.
Retrofit buildings75 kg is a meaningful advantage where access is difficult.
Ground mount arraysUp to eight trackers per unit.
Sites with SigenStor storageSame ecosystem and monitoring platform.
High-altitude sitesRated to 5,000 m, derating above 4,000 m.
Battery and storage

Can I add a battery to this?

This is a grid-tied PV inverter. It converts solar DC into AC for the property and the grid, and it has no battery port. That is not a shortcoming — it is the right architecture for a system without storage, and it is why it costs what it does.

If storage is on the roadmap, you have two routes. Add an AC-coupled battery system alongside this inverter later, which works with any PV inverter and needs no change to what is already installed. Or choose a hybrid inverter now and pay for a battery port you will use in a year or two. We are happy to talk that trade-off through before you order.

Frequently asked questions

Questions we get asked about this inverter

Do I need a data logger?

No. Multiple M1 units connect in parallel and report as one system without an external logger. That is a box, a power supply and a commissioning step removed.

What is the PV reverse-connection alert?

If a string is connected with reversed polarity, the inverter says so immediately rather than at commissioning. On a large array that catches the error while the installer is still at the connector.

How does it compare on weight?

75 kg for up to 125 kW is light for the class. Comparable 100 kW units are often 90 kg or more.

Can it charge a battery?

The M1 is a PV inverter. Sigenergy's SigenStor and SigenStack are the storage platforms; ask us about pairing them.

What altitude is it rated to?

5,000 m, with derating above 4,000 m.
