SolarEdge Commercial Storage System 50kW with 102.4kWh
SolarEdge Commercial Storage System 50kW with 102.4kWh
SolarEdge Commercial Storage Solution — 50 kW and 102.4 kWh — about two hours at rated power, on one part number.
Commercial storage usually arrives as a pile of parts and a commissioning problem. CSS does not: the cabinet is assembled and factory tested before it ships, and it is compact enough to go indoors or outdoors without a building around it.

About the SolarEdge Commercial Storage Solution
The system is AC-coupled, which is the thing to understand before quoting. It sits alongside an existing SolarEdge PV system rather than between the array and the grid, so it can be added to a site that is already generating without touching the DC side.
One PCS050 battery inverter carries up to two CSS-OU-20 cabinets, and sites scale from there to a megawatt-hour. SolarEdge ONE for C&I runs the whole thing — self-consumption, peak shaving, tariff optimisation and microgrid operation — and doubles as the G100 export limitation device.
Safety is where a commercial cabinet earns its price. Fire detection with a double suppression mechanism, earth and leakage fault protection, DC and AC surge protection, reverse polarity protection, a dual-string design, and flood, door and heat sensors.
What does this work with?
This is an AC-coupled commercial storage system: a pre-assembled battery cabinet, a 50 kW battery inverter and the SolarEdge ONE Controller.
CSS is AC-coupled and requires an existing SolarEdge PV system. One PCS050 inverter takes at most two CSS-OU-20 cabinets, at a 1:1 or 2:1 ratio, and two cabinets on one inverter need the cabling extension kit. Backup power requires the SolarEdge Commercial Backup Interface, which is a separate product.

What the job needs
The details that decide whether this suits the system:
- AC-coupled. It requires an existing SolarEdge PV system — this is not a standalone storage product.
- One PCS050 takes a maximum of two CSS-OU-20 cabinets. Maintain a 1:1 or 2:1 cabinet-to-inverter ratio.
- Two cabinets on one inverter need cabling extension kit CSS-O1-C-B01-XX. It is included in the 204 kWh system package and is a separate order otherwise.
- Backup requires the SolarEdge Commercial Backup Interface. It is not in any of these packages.
- Do not install within 2 km of the sea.
- The cabinet is 1,100 × 1,100 × 2,380 mm and 1,433 kg, IP54, C4 anti-corrosion, with built-in HVAC. Check the floor, the route in and the lifting arrangements.
- The PCS050 is 650 × 715 × 325 mm and 68 kg, IP65, with two DC inputs and 80 A AC output at 97.5 % efficiency.
- The CSS Outdoor solution is fully G99 type tested, listed on the ENA Direct Connect website under SOETC/17188/V1/A3. The SolarEdge ONE Controller for C&I is also a G100 import and export limitation device, listed under SOETC/16476/V1/A1.
Where this earns its place
The Commercial Storage Solution is specified most often for these jobs.

Questions we get asked about this inverter
Does it work with any PV system?
No. CSS is AC-coupled and requires an existing SolarEdge PV system.
How many cabinets can one inverter run?
Two at most, at a 1:1 or 2:1 cabinet-to-inverter ratio. Two cabinets on one inverter also need the cabling extension kit.
Does it provide backup power?
Not on its own. Backup requires the SolarEdge Commercial Backup Interface, which is a separate product and is not in these packages.
Is it G99 approved?
Yes. The CSS Outdoor solution is fully G99 type tested, listed on ENA Direct Connect under SOETC/17188/V1/A3, and the ONE Controller for C&I is a G100 device under SOETC/16476/V1/A1.
Can it go on a coastal site?
No. SolarEdge state it must not be installed within 2 km of the sea.
What does 2HR or 4HR mean in the part number?
The duration at rated power. 102.4 kWh behind a 50 kW inverter is about two hours; 204.8 kWh is about four.
