SolarEdge Home Battery 48V V2 - 3PH Low Voltage 4x 4.6kWh module = 18.4kWh

Home Battery 48V V2 - 3PH Low Voltage 4x 4.6kWh module = 18.4kWh

SolarEdge Home Battery 48V — 4.6 kWh a module, all of it usable, one to five modules per three-phase Home Hub.

A battery pays for itself by moving energy in time: solar generated at midday and electricity bought on an overnight rate, both spent in the evening. What decides whether it pays is the usable capacity, the charge rate and the cycle life.

Overview

About the SolarEdge Home Battery 48V

The SolarEdge Home Battery 48V is 4.6 kWh a module and all 4.6 kWh is usable, because SolarEdge rate it at a 100 % depth of discharge. One to five modules go in parallel on one inverter, so a system runs from 4.6 to 23 kWh.

One module on its own delivers 2,825 W charging and 4,096 W discharging; two or more together reach the platform's 5,000 W limit in each direction. Peak round-trip efficiency is above 95.4 %.

Which inverter it belongs to is the thing to get right. This is the three-phase battery. The single-phase Home Hub takes the 400 V unit instead, and the two are not interchangeable.

What each stack size gives you

One to five modules go in parallel on one inverter:

2 modules9.20 kWh nominal — 9.20 kWh usable
3 modules13.80 kWh nominal — 13.80 kWh usable
4 modules18.40 kWh nominal — 18.40 kWh usable
5 modules23.00 kWh nominal — 23.00 kWh usable

Which inverter will run this battery?

This is the 48 V SolarEdge Home Battery, the one the three-phase Home Hub takes.

1 to 5 battery modules, 40 – 62 Vdc, 125 A maximum continuous, 5,000 W maximum charge or discharge, CAN communication, galvanic isolation on the battery DC/DC.

Inverters we stock that will run it:

This is the opposite battery to the single-phase Home Hub, which takes the 400V unit. Ordering the wrong one is the most common and most expensive mistake on this platform.
For the installer

Stack rules, cabling and what else the job needs

The details that decide whether this battery suits the system:

  • One to five modules in parallel per inverter, 4.6 to 23 kWh. 44.8 – 56.5 Vdc, 125 A maximum continuous.
  • Three-phase Home Hub connection only. The single-phase Home Hub takes the 400 V battery.
  • Nothing else is in the box. A tower needs a top cover kit (SE-BATT-CVR-KIT-4.6) and a floor stand (SE-FLRSTD-4.6), plus battery-to-inverter cables (SE-CABLE-B2I-4.6 for RWB, or IAC-RBAT-5KCINV-02 for RWS), battery-to-battery cables (SE-CABLE-B2B-4.6) and tower-to-tower cables (SE-CABLE-T2T-4.6) where there is more than one tower.
  • RS485 between modules and CAN to the inverter.
  • 540 × 500 × 240 mm and 54.7 kg a module. With a top cover a one-module tower is 620 mm tall, two modules 1,120 mm and three 1,620 mm, plus 50 mm on a floor stand.
  • Discharge power derates above 40 °C internal, and charge power below 15 °C; SolarEdge run an internal heating procedure at low temperature, which itself consumes some of the charge power.
  • As of January 2025 batteries on new SolarEdge Home Hub three-phase installations are rated at 4,850 Wh rather than 4,600 Wh. The figures on this page are the 4,600 Wh ones the listing quotes.
  • IP65 / NEMA 3R, indoor or outdoor, natural convection, under 25 dBA.

Things worth knowing about this listing

These notes come from us and from the manufacturer, and they are the ones that most often cause a problem after delivery:
  • Three-phase inverter connection only. The single-phase SolarEdge Home Hub takes the 400 V battery instead, and the two are not interchangeable.
  • IMPORTANT: this listing does not include accessories — they must be purchased separately.

Frequently asked questions

Questions we get asked about this inverter

Will it work with my SolarEdge inverter?

Only if it is three phase. The single-phase Home Hub takes the 400 V battery instead. Check the inverter's part number before ordering.

How much of the 4.6 kWh can I use?

All of it. SolarEdge rate the module at a 100 % depth of discharge.

What else do I need to order?

Everything except the modules: a top cover kit and a floor stand per tower, battery-to-inverter cables, battery-to-battery cables, and tower-to-tower cables if there is more than one tower. Tell us the stack size and inverter and we will list them.

How many can I fit?

Five per inverter, which is 23 kWh.

Is one module enough for backup?

One module gives 4,096 W discharging. Two or more reach the platform's 5,000 W.
