SolarEdge StorEdge HD-Wave AC coupled — 5 kW of AC-coupled storage for a site whose PV is three phase, another brand, or not there yet.
An AC-coupled battery inverter exists for one situation: there is already a working solar system, and replacing the inverter to add a battery would mean throwing away something that works. It sits on the AC side instead, charges the battery from the existing array or from the grid, and leaves the original inverter alone.
About the SolarEdge StorEdge HD-Wave AC coupled
This is the AC-coupled StorEdge, and its value is in the three cases it covers that a DC-coupled system cannot: a site with three-phase SolarEdge PV, a site with somebody else's PV inverter, and a site with no PV at all that wants storage first.
It uses HD-Wave technology and works with the SolarEdge Energy Bank directly, or with an LG Chem RESU high-voltage battery through the StorEdge Interface STI-S4.
It is IP65 for indoor or outdoor installation, and battery status, PV production and self-consumption all appear in SolarEdge monitoring.
What does this work with?
This is an AC-coupled storage inverter with HD-Wave technology, commissioned through SetApp rather than a display.
It works directly with the SolarEdge Energy Bank, or with an LG Chem RESU high-voltage battery through the StorEdge Interface STI-S4. A SolarEdge energy meter and a suitable CT are required for the system to work. Because it is AC coupled it suits three-phase SolarEdge PV sites, non-SolarEdge PV sites, and sites with no PV at all.
