SolarEdge 3,500W Home Wave Inverter - Single Phase

SolarEdge · Home Wave Single Phase

3,500W Home Wave Inverter - Single Phase

SolarEdge Home Wave Single Phase — HD-Wave, 99 % weighted efficiency, and a panel-by-panel view of your roof.

A SolarEdge system is a different architecture from a conventional string inverter, and the difference is worth understanding before you choose one. Every panel gets its own power optimiser, which tracks that panel's maximum power point individually and hands the inverter a fixed, well-behaved DC voltage. The inverter then has one job — convert — and it does it at up to 99 % European weighted efficiency, one of the highest figures available anywhere.

Overview

About the SolarEdge Home Wave Single Phase

What that architecture buys you in practice is threefold. Shading on one panel stops mattering to the rest of the string. String lengths become far more flexible, because the inverter always sees the same voltage. And you get module-level monitoring as standard: the app shows you each panel, so a fault is a specific panel on a specific row rather than a number that looks a bit low.

The HD-Wave topology is what makes this range so light and compact for its output — 280 × 370 × 142 mm and IP65, indoors or out, with no external fan. There is a safety dividend as well: SafeDC drops the array's DC voltage to a touch-safe level automatically whenever the inverter or the grid shuts down, and integrated arc-fault protection is built in.

For the installer

String design, certification and what is in the box

The details that decide whether this unit suits the job:

  • Requires SolarEdge power optimisers on every module — this is not a conventional string inverter and will not work without them.
  • Fixed 380 V nominal DC input, 480 V maximum, so string design is about optimiser count rather than module Voc at temperature.
  • 200 % DC oversizing supported.
  • Commissioned from a phone with SolarEdge SetApp over the inverter's built-in Wi-Fi access point — no display to pay for or fail.
  • Integrated arc-fault protection to UL 1699B, user configurable.
  • Certified to G98 and G99, EN 50438, VDE-AR-N-4105 and IEC 61727/62116.
  • Connects to the SolarEdge Home Battery and other Home ecosystem devices over the optional SolarEdge Home Network.
Applications

Where this inverter earns its place

The Home Wave Single Phase is specified most often for these jobs.

Shaded and complex roofsThe single strongest reason to choose SolarEdge over a string inverter.
Multi-orientation arraysPanels on three or four planes on one inverter, all optimised individually.
Roofs with awkward panel countsFixed-voltage architecture removes most string-length constraints.
Customers who want per-panel dataModule-level monitoring is standard, not an add-on.
Storage-ready installsAdd the SolarEdge Home Battery later over the Home Network.
Long-term asset owners12-year warranty as standard, extendable to 25.
Battery and storage

Can I add a battery to this?

This inverter has a battery port. It takes Ready for the SolarEdge Home Battery over the SolarEdge Home Network.

Battery architecture is not interchangeable. A high-voltage inverter cannot use a 48 V low-voltage battery and vice versa, whatever a compatibility list says, so check the voltage before you order. If you are not certain, ask us and we will confirm it against your part number.

Frequently asked questions

Questions we get asked about this inverter

Do I have to buy optimisers as well?

Yes. A SolarEdge inverter needs a SolarEdge power optimiser behind every module. Budget for both. The upside is that the optimisers carry a 25-year warranty and do the shade mitigation, string flexibility and per-panel monitoring.

Is it worth it over a normal string inverter?

On a clean, single-orientation, unshaded roof, often not — a good dual-tracker string inverter costs less and performs similarly. On a shaded, multi-pitch or complex roof, the difference in annual yield is usually decisive.

What is SafeDC?

When the inverter or grid shuts down, each optimiser drops its output to about 1 V, so the array's DC cabling falls to a touch-safe voltage instead of sitting at several hundred volts. It is a genuine safety feature for installers and for the fire service.

What warranty?

12 years standard on the inverter, extendable to 25. Optimisers are 25 years as standard.

Can I add a battery?

Yes — the SolarEdge Home Battery, connected over the SolarEdge Home Network. Note that the specific battery model depends on the inverter; ask us to check your part number before ordering.

Is there a display?

No, and deliberately so. Commissioning and monitoring are done through SetApp and the mySolarEdge app, which removes a component that historically failed.
