SolarEdge 17,000W Three Phase Inverter NO DISPLAY

SolarEdge · Three Phase SE12.5K – SE27.6K

SolarEdge 17,000W Three Phase Inverter NO DISPLAY

SolarEdge Three Phase SE12.5K – SE27.6K — The commercial mid-range, with an optional integrated DC safety unit.

This is the size band where a solar project stops being domestic: 12.5 kW to 27.6 kW on three phase, for workshops, farms, small industrial units and large rural properties. The array is big enough that DC safety and diagnostics start to matter as much as efficiency.

Overview

About the SolarEdge Three Phase SE12.5K – SE27.6K

The optional integrated DC Safety Unit is the practical highlight. It puts the DC isolation inside the inverter enclosure, which removes a separate weatherproof box from the wall, a set of glands from the install and a failure point from the system. Optional DC surge protection and DC fuses go in the same place.

Fixed-voltage operation at 750 V nominal, up to 1,000 V maximum, gives 98.3 % peak efficiency and long strings. Module-level monitoring comes as standard, which on a commercial roof is the difference between knowing a string is down and guessing.

For the installer

String design, certification and what is in the box

The details that decide whether this unit suits the job:

  • Requires SolarEdge power optimisers on every module.
  • 1,000 Vdc maximum input, fixed 750 Vdc nominal operation.
  • Optional integrated DC Safety Unit removes the need for external DC isolators.
  • Optional DC surge protection and DC fuses; optional rapid shutdown on SE25K and SE27.6K (part number SExxK-RWRxxxxxx).
  • Integrated arc fault protection.
  • Commissioned with SolarEdge SetApp; IP65 for indoor or outdoor mounting.
Applications

Where this inverter earns its place

The Three Phase SE12.5K – SE27.6K is specified most often for these jobs.

Workshops and light industrial units12 kW to 27 kW covers most single-building commercial roofs.
Farm buildingsThree-phase rural supply and a large barn roof.
Schools and community buildingsModule-level data suits reporting obligations on grant-funded schemes.
Large rural housesWhere the array exceeds what the domestic range covers.
Shaded or complex commercial roofsPlant, ducting and parapets shade commercial roofs far more than people expect.
Battery and storage

Can I add a battery to this?

This is a grid-tied PV inverter. It converts solar DC into AC for the property and the grid, and it has no battery port. That is not a shortcoming — it is the right architecture for a system without storage, and it is why it costs what it does.

If storage is on the roadmap, you have two routes. Add an AC-coupled battery system alongside this inverter later, which works with any PV inverter and needs no change to what is already installed. Or choose a hybrid inverter now and pay for a battery port you will use in a year or two. We are happy to talk that trade-off through before you order.

Things worth knowing about this listing

These notes come from us and from the manufacturer, and they are the ones that most often cause a problem after delivery:
  • The SolarEdge SetApp mobile application is required to commission this inverter. There is no display; commissioning is done from a phone over the inverter's own Wi-Fi access point.
  • UK only: this inverter is tested and certified to G98 or G99 only with the most recent firmware version. Update the inverter firmware during the SetApp commissioning process, as set out in the installation manual.
  • This inverter does not have a display. It is the new Comms Board version, and set-up and commissioning are done with the SolarEdge SetApp mobile application.

Frequently asked questions

Questions we get asked about this inverter

What is the DC Safety Unit?

An optional module integrated into the inverter that provides DC isolation, and can also carry DC surge protection and fuses. It replaces a separate external isolator enclosure, which saves an install step and removes a common water-ingress point.

What is rapid shutdown for?

It de-energises the array automatically when the AC grid disconnects. It is available on the SE25K and SE27.6K and is worth specifying where a fire officer or insurer asks for it.

Do I need optimisers?

Yes, on every module.

What is the warranty?

12 years standard, extendable to 20.

Have questions?

Three figures govern it, all in the Technical Specifications: the MPPT voltage range, the maximum input voltage and the maximum DC power. Tell us which panel you're pairing it with and we'll confirm the string layout.

G98 covers installations up to 3.68kW per phase and is notified to your DNO after commissioning. Anything larger needs G99 approval agreed beforehand. We can flag which one your design falls under.

A hybrid inverter takes a DC-coupled battery directly. A standard string inverter needs an AC-coupled battery alongside it. The Technical Specifications show which type this unit is.

Yes, up to the maximum DC power figure in the specifications. Modest oversizing is normal practice - it lifts output in winter and at either end of the day, at the cost of brief clipping at midday peak.

An MPPT tracks the optimum operating point for a string of panels. You want one per roof orientation or pitch, because panels facing different directions on a single tracker drag each other down.

The standard manufacturer warranty is listed under the Warranty tab. Extended cover is available on most brands - see Warranty Extensions.
