Belcom Communication cable — Terminated leads or cable by the metre — check which before you order ten.
Storage systems fail on data as often as on power. A battery that cannot talk to its inverter will not charge, and the cable between them is not a place to improvise.
About the Belcom Communication cable
The Cat 5e leads are the straightforward option: shielded twisted pair, crimped with RJ45 connectors at both ends, in 3 m and 10 m. These are finished leads — order one and you get one.
The RS485 cables are different in two ways. They are proper TIA-485 control cables with tinned copper conductors, a foil screen, a drain wire and a braid, in an LSZH FireFighter jacket rated at 600 V and −20 to +90 °C. And two of them are sold by the metre: order ten of the 1 m line and you receive a 10 m run, not ten separate cables.
The 100 m line is a drum rather than a per-metre order, for when the run is long enough to be worth buying whole.
What does this fit?
This is the data cable between an inverter, a battery and a meter.
Match the cable to the bus. Cat 5e with RJ45 ends is for the CAN and Ethernet links most batteries use; the RS485 cables are for Modbus and TIA-485 runs. Two of the RS485 lines are supplied by the metre rather than as finished leads.

What the job needs
The details that decide whether this suits the system:
- Cat 5e leads are supplied terminated with RJ45 connectors at both ends, shielded twisted pair, in 3 m and 10 m.
- The 1 m RS485 lines are priced and supplied per metre. Ordering ten gives a single 10 m run, not ten leads.
- The 100 m RS485 line is supplied as a 100 m length.
- 430 Series RS485: 22 AWG stranded tinned copper, PE insulation, foil screen, 22 AWG drain wire, 65 % tinned copper braid, LSZH FireFighter SHF-1 jacket in grey RAL 7001, 600 V, −20 to +90 °C.
- 440 Series RS485: 2 × 2 × 24 AWG, PE insulation, four cores twisted as two pairs (blue/white and orange/white), foil screen, 24 AWG drain wire, 80 % braid, UV-stable LSZH jacket, 600 V, for BACnet over MS/TP.
- Do not substitute unscreened cable on an RS485 run. The screen and drain are what keep the bus readable next to power cable.
Where this earns its place
The cable is chosen by the bus and by the run.
Things worth knowing about this listing
- This cable is priced per metre. Ordering ten gives a 10 m run rather than ten separate leads.

Questions we get asked about this inverter
If I order ten of the 1 m RS485 cable, what do I get?
A single 10 m run. That line is priced and supplied per metre, not as finished leads.
Are the Cat 5e cables terminated?
Yes — crimped with RJ45 connectors at both ends.
What is the temperature rating on the RS485 cable?
−20 °C to +90 °C, at 600 V.
Can I use unscreened cable instead?
Not on an RS485 run alongside power cable. The foil screen, drain wire and braid are what keep the bus readable.
