Pylon PowerCube H2, 3.552kWh, 48V 74Ah for High Voltage series connection(H48074)

Pylontech PowerCube H2 — 3.552 kWh a module, twelve to a rack, 42.6 kWh at 576 V.

A home battery stores the solar your house does not use at the moment it is generated, and gives it back in the evening. What decides whether that is worth doing is not the headline capacity but three numbers together: how much of the pack you may actually use, how fast it will charge and discharge, and how many cycles it is good for.

Overview

About the Pylontech PowerCube H2

The PowerCube H2 builds a high-voltage system out of 48 V modules wired in series rather than out of tall 100 V modules. Each H48074 is 3.552 kWh; five to twelve of them plus the SC1000-100 controller make a rack from about 17.8 kWh to 42.6 kWh at up to 576 V.

Because the modules are the familiar rack format, the same 442 mm chassis fits a 19-inch cabinet, which is why it turns up in commercial installations and plant rooms rather than on kitchen walls. Up to six racks run in parallel, which is what takes it from a house-sized system to a commercial one.

Round-trip efficiency is 95 % and depth of discharge 90 %, with a 5,000 cycle life and a 15+ year operating life.

Which inverter will run this battery?

This is a module for a high-voltage PowerCube rack, five to twelve of which make a 270 to 576 V system.

This is the module, not the system. Five to twelve H48074 modules and an SC1000-100 controller make a PowerCube H2 rack of 17.8 to 42.6 kWh at up to 576 V, which suits a high-voltage hybrid with a window that covers it. Solis list the PowerCube family on their HV list under the option PYLON_HV.

Stack rules, cabling and what else the job needs

The details that decide whether this battery suits the system:

  • This listing is the H48074 module: 48 V, 74 Ah, 3.552 kWh. A working system also needs the SC1000-100 battery controller.
  • Five to twelve modules per rack. System voltage is n × 54 V on charge and n × 43.5 V on discharge, where n is the module count.
  • System currents: 14.8 A standard, 37 A normal (the figure the BMS sends), 74 A maximum as a 15-second peak.
  • Depth of discharge 90 %, round-trip efficiency 95 %, cycle life 5,000.
  • Module and controller are both 442 × 132 × 390 mm (W × H × D). A full rack is 600 × 2,130 × 505 mm and weighs n × 32 kg plus 77 kg.
  • IP20, indoor only. Operating 0 to +50 °C, storage −20 to +60 °C.
  • RS485 or CAN to the inverter.
  • Where a system uses two or more BMS units an MBMS is required, and racks and door kits are ordered separately.

Things worth knowing about this listing

These notes come from us and from the manufacturer, and they are the ones that most often cause a problem after delivery:
  • Discontinued product. Stock of the Pylontech PowerCube H2 module is limited to what remains, so check availability with us before designing a system around it or planning to expand one later.
  • Where a system uses two or more BMS units, an MBMS is required.
  • Racks and door kits for PowerCube installations are available separately — ask us for the right one for your module count.

Frequently asked questions

Questions we get asked about this inverter

Is this the whole battery?

No. This listing is one H48074 module. A PowerCube H2 system is five to twelve of them plus the SC1000-100 battery controller, in a rack.

What voltage does the system run at?

It depends on the module count: n × 54 V on charge and n × 43.5 V on discharge, so twelve modules give a 576 V system.

Will it work with a 48 V inverter?

No. Although each module is 48 V, the system is wired in series into a high-voltage stack and needs a high-voltage hybrid.

How much can I actually use?

90 % of the nominal capacity, at a 95 % round-trip efficiency.

Have questions?

Usable energy is the nominal capacity multiplied by the depth of discharge, and both figures are in the Technical Specifications. Most current lithium batteries allow 90% or more.

It needs to appear on your inverter manufacturer's approved battery list and the voltage ranges have to match. Send us your inverter model and we'll confirm compatibility before you order.

Most systems stack in modules up to a maximum number of units per installation, given in the datasheet. Keep to the same model, and buy the full stack together where budget allows.

Only where the IP rating and operating temperature range allow it - both are in the Technical Specifications. Cold reduces usable capacity, so a garage or utility space is usually the better location.

Yes, where the inverter supports timed or forced charging. Paired with a time-of-use tariff this is often the quickest route to a shorter payback.

Warranty terms, and the throughput or cycle count they are based on, are listed under the Warranty tab and in the manufacturer documentation.
