Sunsynk Lifelynk X 3.6kW Hybrid Inverter with 3.84kWh Battery

Sunsynk Lifelynk X — Inverter and battery in one wall box, pre-set at the factory and wired for plug and play.

A hybrid inverter does three jobs a string inverter cannot. It converts solar DC to AC; it charges and discharges a battery on the DC side, which avoids the double conversion an AC-coupled battery pays for; and when the grid fails it islands the site and keeps the essential-load output alive from the battery.

Overview

About the Sunsynk Lifelynk X

The Lifelynk X does all of that with the battery already inside it. 3.84 kWh of LiFePO4, the inverter, and in-built connection points for load, grid, CT and the Wi-Fi logger — which is what Sunsynk mean by plug and play, and why it is aimed at volume roll-outs on new build and retrofit programmes rather than at one-off bespoke systems.

It is a wall box, 543.6 mm wide and 700.6 mm tall, and the factory pre-sets mean commissioning is quick. Sunsynk Connect gives the installer full remote visibility and site-specific customisation afterwards.

Battery compatibility

Which battery does this inverter take?

This inverter takes a battery that is already inside the unit.

This model has a battery voltage window of 43.2 – 57.6 V, a maximum charge or discharge current of 60 A (configurable).

This rule applies to the Sunsynk Lifelynk X.

3.84 kWh of LiFePO4 at 51.2 V nominal, 43.2 – 57.6 V, with a configurable 60 A charge and 80 A discharge limit, built into the same wall box as the inverter.

There is no battery to choose and none to add. The Lifelynk X is a closed all-in-one: the 3.84 kWh inside it is the whole store. If you need more than that, a separate inverter and battery is the right answer and we will help you size one.
For the installer

String design, battery limits and what is in the box

The details that decide whether this unit suits the job:

  • The battery is built in and is not a choice: 3.84 kWh of LiFePO4, 51.2 V nominal, 43.2 – 57.6 V, with a configurable 60 A charge and 80 A discharge limit.
  • PV side is 4,500 W maximum across two strings at 12 A each, 500 V maximum, 150 V start-up, 120 – 450 V MPPT window.
  • Backup output is 3,600 W and 3,600 VA with a 7,200 VA peak, 16 A maximum, and a 40 A bypass. Transfer between bypass and inverter is 10 ms.
  • On-grid it takes and gives 3,600 W, so the grid side and the backup side are matched.
  • Efficiency: 97.6 % maximum, 97.0 % European, 94.0 % battery to load, 99.9 % MPPT.
  • 700.6 × 543.6 × 182.2 mm as quoted (height × length × width) and 51.7 kg. Plan the fixings and the lift.
  • Compliance is quoted against VDE 0126-1-1:2013, IEC/EN 62109-1 and -2, and G98 — so it is a G98 unit at 3.6 kW rather than a G99 one.
Applications

Where this hybrid earns its place

The Lifelynk X is specified most often for these jobs.

Ordered with this inverter more often than anything else

A hybrid is the middle of a system, not the whole of it. These are the parts our customers add most often:

Frequently asked questions

Questions we get asked about this inverter

Can I add more battery?

No. The Lifelynk X is a closed all-in-one: the 3.84 kWh inside it is the storage. If you need more, look at a separate inverter and battery instead and we will help you size it.

What will it back up?

Whatever is wired to the essential-load output, up to 3,600 VA, with a 7,200 VA peak for starting. The changeover is 10 ms.

Is it a G98 or G99 job?

The specification quotes G98, which suits its 3.6 kW rating — a notification rather than a full application in most cases. Confirm with your DNO as always.

How much solar can I put on it?

4,500 W across two strings at 12 A each, inside a 120 – 450 V window.
