The JA Solar JAM54D40 LB 460 W is an N-type Bycium+ bifacial double glass solar panel. JA Solar's n-type Bycium+ cells use a passivated contact structure that lifts efficiency and lowers first-year degradation against p-type PERC. It delivers 23.0 % module efficiency from a 1,762 × 1,134 mm frame.
About the JA Solar Deep Blue 4.0 Pro range
Deep Blue 4.0 Pro is JA Solar's n-type platform, using Bycium+ cells with a better temperature coefficient, lower light-induced degradation and improved low-light behaviour than the p-type modules it replaces.
At 1,762 × 1,134 mm it is a residential-format module, sized to fit the rafter spans and roof planes of a standard UK house. Being bifacial, it earns most of its extra yield on flat roofs, ground mounts and light-coloured surfaces, where light reaches the back of the module; on a pitched tiled roof the rear-side gain is small.
Why installers specify this panel
- −0.290 %/°C power temperature coefficient — output falls away more slowly as the modules heat up through the middle of the day.
- Bifacial, 80 % ±10 % — the rear face adds generation from reflected and diffuse light, which suits flat roofs, ground mounts and light-coloured surfaces.
- All-black appearance — a black anodised frame and dark cells, for domestic roofs where the array has to be discreet.
- Long-dated warranty — 25-year product warranty and 30-year linear performance warranty; 1 % first-year degradation, 0.4 % per year over 30 years.

Array sizing
Each panel covers 2.00 m². A 4 kWp array needs 9 of them (4.14 kWp over about 18 m²). A 6 kWp array needs 13 of them (5.98 kWp over about 26 m²). Each module weighs 22.0 kg.
