The Intatec Zero Anti-Freeze Valve 28mm is an anti-freeze valve. Compatible with the Ideal Logic Air and HP290 heat pump ranges.
A monobloc heat pump keeps water, not refrigerant, in the pipework outside the house. If that water freezes it splits the pipe, and on a power cut the heat pump's own frost protection cannot run. An anti-freeze valve is the mechanical backstop: it dumps water out of the circuit before it can reach freezing point, with no power required.
The Inta Zero reacts to the temperature of the water in the circuit rather than to the air around it, which is the reason it can be insulated. Part L requires external heat pump pipework and fittings to be insulated, and Intatec's own testing shows the valve still discharging at the same water temperature when it is — 2.03 °C insulated against 2.49 °C bare.
