Ideal Logic Air DHW Pre-Plumbed Cylinder with Buffer 180L 1 Zone

The Ideal Logic Air 180 L is a single zone pre-plumbed DHW cylinder with integrated buffer, supplied fully pre-plumbed, pre-wired and configured for the Logic Air heat pump range. It holds 171 litres of stored hot water alongside a 70 litre integrated buffer, and reheats from 10 °C to 50 °C in 22.17 minutes.

A pre-plumbed cylinder arrives with the heat pump's hydraulics already built onto it and wired into a factory-fitted control box. This version also carries an integrated buffer tank in the same cabinet, which is what gives the heat pump the open volume it needs to run a defrost cycle and to keep modulating instead of short cycling when the zone valves close.

The buffer matters more than it looks. A heat pump needs a minimum volume of water open to it at all times so it can reverse the cycle to defrost the outdoor coil, and radiators sitting behind thermostatic valves do not count towards that volume. Without a buffer or a volumiser most retrofits cannot meet the requirement, so building one into the cylinder cabinet saves both the floor space and a second set of connections.

Specification

Reheat time is measured to HWA Heat Pump Test 002:2020, 0.42 l/s at 55 °C flow temperature. Check the full weight against the floor before siting a cylinder this size: at 305.6 kg it is a structural consideration, not just a plumbing one.
