Huawei Backup Box and SmartGuard — Grid-tied to off-grid and back, automatically — matched to the inverter, not to the house.
A Huawei residential system switches between grid-tied and off-grid through a Backup Box. When the grid fails the inverter goes off-grid and supplies the backup loads; when it returns, the inverter switches back. Detection and switchover are automatic.
About the Huawei Backup Box and SmartGuard
The two Backup Boxes are matched to inverter lists rather than to the property. The B0 serves the single-phase L1 range and the B1 the three-phase M1 range, and the model numbers on those lists are the check to make before ordering.
The SmartGuard is a larger idea. Rather than backing up a set of circuits, it switches the entire house connection, so the whole property continues to be supplied during a power failure. It mounts on the house supply line and carries an integrated EMMA smart meter, which is what makes dynamic tariffs and other intelligent loads usable.
What does this fit?
This is the box that switches a Huawei system between grid-tied and off-grid.
Match the box to the inverter. The B0 is for the single-phase SUN2000-2/3/3.68/4/4.6/5/6KTL-L1; the B1 is for the three-phase SUN2000-3/4/5/6/8/10KTL-M1. The SmartGuard is a different product: it switches the whole house connection and carries an integrated EMMA smart meter.
