The MIN TL-X is Growatt's dual-MPPT single-phase workhorse, covering 2.5 kW to 6 kW. Two independent trackers with one string each handle the split and shaded roofs that make up most of the UK housing stock, and 98.4 % peak efficiency on the larger models is at the top of this class.
About the Growatt MIN TL-X
One unusual feature is worth knowing about: the inverter stores generation data on board for up to 25 years. That means a system's history does not depend on a cloud account staying active or a router staying connected — which matters when the property changes hands or the monitoring subscription lapses.
AFCI arc-fault protection is fitted as standard on this range rather than offered as an option, along with Type II DC surge protection. The unit is 375 × 350 × 160 mm, 10.8 kg, IP65 and convection cooled.
String design, certification and what is in the box
The details that decide whether this unit suits the job:
- Two MPP trackers, one string each, 13.5 A per tracker and 16.9 A Isc.
- 100 V start-up. The 2.5 kW and 3 kW models have a 500 V maximum with an 80 – 500 V window; 3.6 kW and above have 550 V and 80 – 550 V.
- AFCI protection and DC switch both fitted as standard.
- AC/DC surge protection Type III / Type II.
- Certified to CE, IEC 62109, VDE 0126-1-1, AS 4777, VDE-AR-N 4105, IEC 61683, IEC 60068, IEC 61727 and IEC 62116.
- 10-year warranty as standard on this range.
Where this inverter earns its place
The MIN TL-X is specified most often for these jobs.
Can I add a battery to this?
This is a grid-tied PV inverter. It converts solar DC into AC for the property and the grid, and it has no battery port. That is not a shortcoming — it is the right architecture for a system without storage, and it is why it costs what it does.
If storage is on the roadmap, you have two routes. Add an AC-coupled battery system alongside this inverter later, which works with any PV inverter and needs no change to what is already installed. Or choose a hybrid inverter now and pay for a battery port you will use in a year or two. We are happy to talk that trade-off through before you order.
Things worth knowing about this listing
- To achieve the anti-reflux (export limitation) function on the TL-X and TL-XE range you must use the Growatt SPM-E meter. A CT clamp cannot do it. Contact us for details.
- UK only: this inverter is tested and certified to G99 only for units with the most recent firmware and hardware version. Please check that the unit you are buying meets that criteria, and if in doubt update the inverter firmware before commissioning.

What is the 25-year data storage for?
The inverter keeps its own generation history rather than relying entirely on a cloud account. If the Wi-Fi drops, the router changes, or the property is sold, the record is still in the box.
Is AFCI standard?
Yes on this range, which is not universal at this price. It detects DC arcing and shuts the inverter down.
Can I add a battery?
No — the MIN TL-X is grid-tied. The MIN TL-XH and TL-XH2 are the hybrid versions of the same platform, and they take Growatt's own high-voltage ARK batteries.
What warranty?
10 years as standard on the MIN TL-X range.
Is the DC isolator included?
Yes, the DC switch is fitted as standard.
