Fox ESS Fox 110.0kW R Series 3ph 10x MPPT Grid-Tied Inverter (BTO)

Fox ESS · R Series

Fox 110.0kW R Series 3ph 10x MPPT Grid-Tied Inverter (BTO)

Fox ESS R Series — 75 kW to 110 kW with PID recovery and smart air cooling.

The R Series is Fox ESS's commercial and industrial platform: 75 kW, 100 kW and 110 kW, nine or ten MPP trackers, 1,100 V, and a 98.6 % peak efficiency. This is the size at which a rooftop stops being a domestic project and starts being an asset with a financial model attached.

Overview

About the Fox ESS R Series

Two features earn their place at this scale. PID recovery reverses potential induced degradation overnight — on a twenty-year commercial asset at high system voltage, that protects several percent of lifetime yield. And arc-fault circuit interruption, available as an option, is increasingly what insurers ask about on large roof-mounted DC installations.

It is IP66 with smart air cooling and an operating range down to −30 °C, on an MC4-compatible DC side and OT terminals on the AC side. At 90 kg it is a mechanical handling job, not a wall hang.

For the installer

String design, certification and what is in the box

The details that decide whether this unit suits the job:

  • 9 or 10 MPP trackers, 2 strings each, 26 A per input and 40 A Isc.
  • 1,100 V maximum, 250 V start-up, 200 – 1,000 V MPPT window, 550 – 850 V at full load.
  • PID recovery, insulation monitoring, residual current monitoring and DC/AC Type II surge protection all fitted as standard.
  • AFCI and PV string current monitoring are options on this range.
  • 975 × 630 × 360 mm, 90 kg — plan lifting and access.
  • Certified to EN 50549, IEC 62109, IEC 61727, IEC 62116, IEC 60068 and IEC 61683.
Applications

Where this inverter earns its place

The R Series is specified most often for these jobs.

Industrial rooftopsWhere the array runs to several hundred kilowatts.
Ground mount and solar farmsNine or ten trackers per unit cuts combiner boxes.
Cold stores and process plantContinuous daytime load, minimal export.
Distribution centresLarge uninterrupted roof planes.
PPA and leased assetsPID recovery protects yield over the length of the contract.
Battery and storage

Can I add a battery to this?

This is a grid-tied PV inverter. It converts solar DC into AC for the property and the grid, and it has no battery port. That is not a shortcoming — it is the right architecture for a system without storage, and it is why it costs what it does.

If storage is on the roadmap, you have two routes. Add an AC-coupled battery system alongside this inverter later, which works with any PV inverter and needs no change to what is already installed. Or choose a hybrid inverter now and pay for a battery port you will use in a year or two. We are happy to talk that trade-off through before you order.

Things worth knowing about this listing

These notes come from us and from the manufacturer, and they are the ones that most often cause a problem after delivery:
  • You must register the installation with Fox ESS online to activate the 10 year product warranty. Without registration it is 5 years as standard. See the warranty document in the Documents tab for the registration link and the full terms.

Frequently asked questions

Questions we get asked about this inverter

What is PID and why does recovery matter?

Potential induced degradation is a slow leakage effect that develops in modules held at high voltage relative to their frame, and it can quietly cost several percent of output over years. Recovery applies a reverse potential overnight to undo it. On a twenty-year commercial asset the cumulative difference is significant.

Is AFCI standard?

No, it is optional on the R Series. Many commercial insurers now ask for it on large DC installations — check before you specify.

What is the full-load MPPT window?

550 – 850 V. The wider 200 – 1,000 V range is where it will track, but full rated output needs the narrower band, which is what your string design should target.

How is it cooled?

Smart air cooling with variable-speed fans. Derating starts above 3,000 m altitude.
