Fox ESS LV52 5.12kWh 48V Battery Module

Fox ESS · LV52 low voltage module

Fox ESS LV52 5.12kWh 48V Battery Module

Fox ESS LV52 low voltage module — 48 V, 104 Ah, up to four in parallel — Fox's low-voltage module.

A battery is worth having because it moves energy in time: solar generated at midday and electricity bought overnight, both spent in the evening. The numbers that matter are usable capacity, charge rate and cycle life.

Overview

About the Fox ESS LV52 low voltage module

The LV52 is Fox's 48 V module: 104 Ah at 51.2 V nominal, which is 5.32 kWh, with 4.79 kWh usable at a 90 % depth of discharge and a cycle life of at least 6,000. Charge and discharge run to 100 A continuous with a 150 A peak for 30 seconds.

Up to four go in parallel rather than in series, so the system stays at 48 V however many you fit. It talks CAN and RS485 and has a five-LED state-of-charge display.

It is an indoor product: IP21, stand or wall mounted, charging from 0 °C and discharging from −10 °C. A garage, utility room or plant room rather than an outside wall.

What each stack size gives you

Modules go in parallel, so the system stays at 48 V however many you fit:

Inverter compatibility

Which inverter will run this battery?

This is a 48 V low-voltage Fox module — the opposite architecture to the EQ, ECS, CQ and EP high-voltage stacks, and not interchangeable with them.

This is a Fox low-voltage battery and must be installed with compatible Fox low-voltage equipment. It will not work on any Fox high-voltage hybrid — the H1, KH, H3, H3 Smart, H3 Pro, H3 Plus and PQ1 all take high-voltage stacks, and no adapter bridges 48 V to 400 V. Send us the inverter model and we will confirm the pairing before you order.

For the installer

Stack rules, cabling and what else the job needs

The details that decide whether this battery suits the system:

  • 51.2 V nominal, 46.4 – 58.4 V operating, 104 Ah at 1 C and 106 Ah at 1/3 C.
  • 50 A recommended discharge, 100 A maximum charge and discharge, 150 A peak for 30 seconds.
  • Up to four modules in parallel. Fox specify two FE-JUNBOX-LV combiner boxes for a two-to-four battery configuration; they are a separate order and we do not stock them as a catalogue line — ask us.
  • The LV52 and LV54 can be used together in an approved configuration. The LV52 is not compatible with the LV5200 and the two must not be mixed in one system.
  • The communication cable is made up at the battery end only. The installer may need to terminate the inverter end to Fox's instructions.
  • CAN and RS485. Round-trip efficiency ≥95 %, cycle life ≥6,000.
  • 620 × 420 × 184.5 mm and 49.5 ± 0.5 kg. IP21, indoor, stand or wall mounted.
  • Charge 0 to 55 °C, discharge −10 to 55 °C, storage −20 to 55 °C. Charge derating between 0 and +15 °C.

Things worth knowing about this listing

These notes come from us and from the manufacturer, and they are the ones that most often cause a problem after delivery:
  • The title quotes 5.12 kWh. Fox’s datasheet rates the module at 104 Ah, which is 5.32 kWh at 51.2 V nominal, and the figures on this page are the datasheet’s.
  • Fox specify two FE-JUNBOX-LV combiner boxes for a two-to-four battery configuration. We do not hold them as a catalogue line — ask us and we will source them with the order.
  • The LV52 and LV54 can be used together in an approved configuration. The LV52 is not compatible with the LV5200 and the two must not be mixed in one system.
  • The communication cable is made up at the battery end only. The installer may need to terminate the inverter end in accordance with Fox ESS installation instructions.
  • The LV52 comes with a 5-year standard product warranty. Registering the installation with Fox ESS online activates the extended 10-year cover, subject to their terms.

Frequently asked questions

Questions we get asked about this inverter

Will it work with my Fox hybrid?

Only if the inverter is a Fox low-voltage model. Every Fox high-voltage hybrid — H1, KH, H3, H3 Smart, H3 Pro, H3 Plus, PQ1 — needs a high-voltage stack instead. Send us the model and we will check.

Why does the title say 5.12 kWh?

The datasheet rates the module at 104 Ah, which is 5.32 kWh at 51.2 V nominal. The figures on this page are the datasheet's.

How many can I put together?

Four in parallel. Fox specify two FE-JUNBOX-LV combiner boxes for a two-to-four battery configuration.

Can I mix it with an LV5200?

No. The LV52 and LV5200 must not be mixed. The LV52 and LV54 can be used together in an approved configuration.

Can it go outside?

No. It is IP21 and rated for indoor installation.

Have questions?

Usable energy is the nominal capacity multiplied by the depth of discharge, and both figures are in the Technical Specifications. Most current lithium batteries allow 90% or more.

It needs to appear on your inverter manufacturer's approved battery list and the voltage ranges have to match. Send us your inverter model and we'll confirm compatibility before you order.

Most systems stack in modules up to a maximum number of units per installation, given in the datasheet. Keep to the same model, and buy the full stack together where budget allows.

Only where the IP rating and operating temperature range allow it - both are in the Technical Specifications. Cold reduces usable capacity, so a garage or utility space is usually the better location.

Yes, where the inverter supports timed or forced charging. Paired with a time-of-use tariff this is often the quickest route to a shorter payback.

Warranty terms, and the throughput or cycle count they are based on, are listed under the Warranty tab and in the manufacturer documentation.
