Fox ESS Fox EQ2900 2.88kWh HV Battery (Master)

Fox EQ2900 2.88kWh HV Battery (Master)

Fox ESS EQ2900 high voltage series — The small EQ module — 2.88 kWh a step, up to 20.16 kWh, for sizing a stack finely.

The reason to store electricity is arbitrage in time: charge when it is cheap or free, spend when it is not. A stack sized close to what a house actually shifts each evening pays back faster than one sized to the nearest round number.

Please read before ordering

This battery requires a MINIMUM of 2 modules to work (Master + Slave), This battery can have a MAXIMUM of 7 modules in a stack (1x Master + 6x Slaves)
If you are adding battery modules to a pre-existing Energy Cube stack, it’s important that the new batteries are compatible with your original battery modules. Please contact your Technical person via the portal and provide a photograph of the original battery stack to help us determine correct compatibility
This product must be installed by a qualified electrician/technician. All installations must adhere to local wiring regulations and standards. ClearRay Solar will not be held liable for any product malfunctions as a result of incorrectly installed systems.

Overview

About the Fox ESS EQ2900 high voltage series

That is what the EQ2900 is for. At 2.88 kWh nominal and 2.59 kWh usable it is the smallest step Fox's high-voltage range offers, so a system can be sized in 2.88 kWh increments up to 20.16 kWh rather than 4.66 or 4.92 kWh ones.

One EQ2900-M master carries the battery management; each EQ2900-S slave adds a step. Two modules is the minimum and seven the maximum.

IP65, outdoor or indoor, natural convection, and rated to 3,000 m.

Inverter compatibility

Which inverter will run this battery?

This is a Fox ESS high-voltage stack: modules wired in series to a few hundred volts, with one master carrying the battery management and the rest of the stack reporting to it.

How many of this module each Fox inverter family takes, from Product Compatibility Fox ESS UK 2026, the module count range for this inverter family:

Modules per stack
H1 / AC12 to 7 modules
KH / KA2 to 7 modules
H3 / AC33 to 7 modules
H3 Pro3 to 14 modules
H3 Smart2 to 7 modules

Inverters we stock that will run it:

Fox high-voltage modules are not mixed: a stack is one type, one master and the matching slaves, and the module count must sit inside the range above for this inverter. A Fox low-voltage battery (LV52) will not work on any of these inverters, and a high-voltage stack will not work on a low-voltage one.
For the installer

Stack rules, cabling and what else the job needs

The details that decide whether this battery suits the system:

  • One master plus one to six slaves. Two modules minimum, seven maximum, 20.16 kWh at full stack.
  • 25 A recommended discharge, 50 A maximum charge and discharge, 65 A peak for 60 seconds.
  • 57.6 V per module: 115.2 V at two modules through to 403.2 V at seven, operating 97.2 – 131.4 V and 340.2 – 459.9 V.
  • Charge derating occurs between 0 and +15 °C.
  • Fox's compatibility matrix counts the modules an inverter will carry in total. Where that number is larger than the maximum stack on the datasheet, it is because the inverter takes more than one stack in parallel — the per-stack limit still applies to each one.
  • A stack is one module type throughout. Fox modules of different capacities are not mixed in a series string, and a Fox low-voltage battery will not work on a high-voltage inverter or the other way round.
  • 570 mm wide, 380 mm deep, 350 mm tall at two modules to 950 mm at seven; 71.1 kg to 230.1 kg.
  • Storage temperature −10 to +40 °C. Maximum altitude 3,000 m.

Frequently asked questions

Questions we get asked about this inverter

Is one module a battery?

No. Two is the minimum: an EQ2900-M master and at least one EQ2900-S slave, 5.76 kWh together.

How big can it get?

Seven modules, 20.16 kWh. Your inverter may cap it lower — the table on this page has the numbers.

How much can I use?

2.59 kWh a module, at a 90 % depth of discharge.

Can I mix EQ2900 with a bigger EQ module?

No. A stack is one module type throughout.

Can it go outside?

Yes, IP65, outdoor or indoor.
