Fox ESS EP5 5.18kWh Battery with Heating Element
Fox ESS EP5 5.18kWh Battery with Heating Element
Fox ESS EP5 high voltage battery — 5.18 kWh in one self-contained unit, wall or floor mounted, with heating and fire suppression built in.
Storage pays by moving energy in time: solar generated at midday and electricity bought overnight, both spent in the evening. The figures that decide whether it pays are usable capacity, charge rate and cycle life.
About the Fox ESS EP5 high voltage battery
The EP5 is a complete battery in one box rather than a stack of modules: 5.18 kWh nominal, 4.66 kWh usable at a 90 % depth of discharge, with its own management, display and cabling. There is no master and no slave to get wrong.
Up to four go in parallel through a Fox junction box, so capacity grows by adding whole units rather than by extending a series string. That also means a fault in one unit does not take the whole stack down.
Cell heating and fire suppression are built in, and it is IP65 for wall or floor mounting, indoors or out.
What each stack size gives you
Capacity grows a whole unit at a time, up to four in parallel:
Which inverter will run this battery?
This is a Fox ESS high-voltage battery: a single self-contained unit at a few hundred volts, paralleled through the Fox junction box rather than stacked in series.

Stack rules, cabling and what else the job needs
The details that decide whether this battery suits the system:
- One self-contained unit. Up to four in parallel, 20.8 kWh, through a FE-JUNBOX-HV junction box — the junction box is a separate order.
- Charge 0 to 55 °C and discharge −10 to 55 °C. Units built after 30 August 2024 carry the heating function.
- 192 V nominal with a 174 – 219 V window. 13.5 A recommended charge, 27 A maximum charge and discharge, 65 A peak discharge for 60 seconds and 32.4 A for 5 s peak charge.
- Compatible with all series of the Fox H1, KH, H3, H3 Pro and H3 Smart inverters.
- Fox's compatibility matrix counts the units an inverter will carry in total across parallel groups.
- 380 × 625 × 147 mm and 50.5 ± 2 kg. Floor or wall mounted, IP65, outdoor or indoor.
Where this battery earns its place
The EP5 high voltage battery is specified most often for these jobs.
Things worth knowing about this listing
- Paralleling batteries needs a FE-JUNBOX-HV junction box, which is ordered separately.
- The EP5 and EP6 can be used together when expanding storage.
- Battery heating and fire suppression are built in.
- Register the installation with Fox ESS to activate the 10-year product warranty. The registration page is at fox-ess.com, and the warranty document on this listing has the full terms.

Questions we get asked about this inverter
Do I need a master module as well?
No. This is a complete battery in one unit — that is the difference between the EP range and the EQ and ECS stacks.
How do I add more?
Up to four units in parallel, 20.8 kWh, through a FE-JUNBOX-HV junction box, which is ordered separately.
How much of it can I use?
4.66 kWh, at a 90 % depth of discharge.
Can it go outside?
Yes. IP65, wall or floor mounted, indoors or out.
Which inverters will run it?
All series of the Fox H1, KH, H3, H3 Pro and H3 Smart. The table on this page has the unit counts per family.
