Dyness Powerbox G2 10.24kWh LV LFP Battery with PC Front Cover

Dyness Powerbox G2 — 10.24 kWh in one 165 mm-deep IP65 box, 95 % usable, with fire suppression and WiFi built in.

A battery pays for itself by moving energy in time: solar generated at midday and electricity bought on an overnight rate, both spent in the evening. What decides whether it pays is the usable capacity, the charge rate and the cycle life, in that order.

Overview

About the Dyness Powerbox G2

The Powerbox G2 is Dyness's 10.24 kWh unit: one box instead of two modules, 9.728 kWh usable at a 95 % depth of discharge, and IP65 so it can go on an outside wall.

It is 165 mm deep, which is the point of it. A slim battery fits an alley, a porch or a plant room where a 500 mm one does not, and it still delivers 10.24 kW at its maximum discharge.

An aerosol fire extinguisher and a WiFi module are built in, and Dyness warrant it for ten years with no cycle limit.

What each stack size gives you

Units go in parallel at 48 V. Up to fifty are allowed, which is 512 kWh; these are the sizes people build:

Inverter compatibility

Which inverter will run this battery?

This is a 48 V low-voltage battery, the architecture most low-voltage hybrid inverters sold in the UK are built around.

Dyness publish a compatible inverter list rather than a compatibility matrix: SMA, Schneider, Victron Energy, Ingeteam, Solis, GoodWe, Growatt, Solplanet, Luxpower, DEYE and others. What it will never work with is a high-voltage hybrid — a 48 V battery and a 300 – 900 V one are different architectures and no adapter bridges them. Send us the inverter model and we will confirm against Dyness's current list before you order.

Stack rules, cabling and what else the job needs

The details that decide whether this battery suits the system:

  • 51.2 V nominal, 44.8 – 57.6 V operating, 200 Ah.
  • 100 A recommended, 200 A discharge maximum, 300 A for 2 minutes at 25 °C peak.
  • Depth of discharge 95 %, so 9.728 kWh of the 10.24 kWh is usable.
  • Dyness publish a compatible inverter list rather than a compatibility matrix: SMA, Schneider, Victron Energy, Ingeteam, Solis, GoodWe, Growatt, Solplanet, Luxpower, DEYE and others. What it will never work with is a high-voltage hybrid — a 48 V battery and a 300 – 900 V one are different architectures and no adapter bridges them. Send us the inverter model and we will confirm against Dyness's current list before you order.
  • 710 × 640 × 165 mm and 96 kg.
  • Charge 0 °C to +55 °C, or −20 °C with the optional heating function; discharge −20 °C to +55 °C.
  • CAN / RS485 to the inverter. IP65, outdoor or indoor.
  • 165 mm deep — about six and a half inches — so it fits where a deeper battery will not.
  • Nominal charge and discharge power is 5.12 kW and maximum discharge power is 10.24 kW.
  • Built-in aerosol fire extinguisher and built-in WiFi with app over-the-air updates. The low-temperature heating function is an option, not standard.
  • Fitted outdoors it should carry the Dyness weather cover, which comes free with the packaged version of this product.
  • 10.24 to 512 kWh across fifty units.
Applications

Where this battery earns its place

The Powerbox G2 is specified most often for these jobs.

Retrofit onto a low-voltage hybridOn most manufacturers' approved lists.
Systems that growUp to 50 in parallel.
Mixed-brand systemsNot tied to one inverter maker.
Time-of-use tariffs95 % depth of discharge.
Cold locationsHeating function extends charging below 0 °C.
Self-consumptionDaily cycling for 6,000 cycles or more.

Things worth knowing about this listing

These notes come from us and from the manufacturer, and they are the ones that most often cause a problem after delivery:
  • If this battery is going outdoors, order the Powerbox G2 package instead. It ships with a Dyness anti-corrosion weather cover free of charge, fitted over the top of the battery at installation to maximise the life of the unit. Not fitting the cover does not affect the standard product warranty.

Frequently asked questions

Questions we get asked about this inverter

What is the difference between the three Powerbox listings?

One is the bare battery, one adds the polycarbonate front cover, and one is the package that ships with the Dyness anti-corrosion weather cover. If it is going outdoors, take the package — the cover comes free with it.

Will it work with my inverter?

Very probably, if it is a low-voltage hybrid. Dyness list SMA, Schneider, Victron, Ingeteam, Solis, GoodWe, Growatt, Solplanet, Luxpower and DEYE among others. Send us the model and we will check.

How much of it can I actually use?

9.728 kWh, at the 95 % depth of discharge Dyness recommend.

How many can I put together?

Up to 50. Most homes fit one to four.

Can it be charged in the cold?

Charging normally stops at 0 °C. The heating function extends it to −20 °C, which matters because that is when an overnight tariff is cheapest.
