Anker Solix X1-H5K-S Power Module

Anker SOLIX · X1 Power Module, single phase

Anker Solix X1-H5K-S Power Module

Anker SOLIX X1 Power Module, single phase — A heated, C5-rated stack 150 mm deep, with almost everything you need already in the carton.

A hybrid inverter does three jobs a string inverter cannot. It converts solar DC to AC; it charges and discharges a battery on the DC side, which avoids the double conversion an AC-coupled battery pays for; and when the grid fails it islands the house and keeps a backup circuit alive from the battery.

Overview

About the Anker SOLIX X1 Power Module, single phase

The X1 is a stack rather than a wall box. The power module sits on top of one to six 5 kWh X1-B5-H battery modules on a shared base plate, 150 mm deep, behind covers that make the whole column look like one appliance. It is IP66 and C5 rated for corrosion, and the battery modules are heated, so the system keeps working down to −20 °C rather than refusing to charge on a frosty morning.

What is in the box is the other reason installers pick it: a power sensor, the base plate, the side covers, both accessory kits and a Wi-Fi dongle all arrive with the power module, so the quote is the module, the batteries and the labour rather than a page of small parts.

Battery compatibility

Which battery does this inverter take?

This inverter takes Anker SOLIX X1-B5-H, LFP.

This rule applies to the Anker SOLIX X1 power modules, single and three phase.

5 kWh per module, 5 to 30 kWh per system (1 to 6 modules). Single phase charge window 390 – 550 Vdc and discharge 370 – 500 Vdc; three phase 350 – 450 Vdc. 3 kW and 7.6 A maximum per module.

What we stock that fits this inverter:

Low voltage and high voltage batteries are not interchangeable. A 48 V battery cannot be used on a high-voltage hybrid and a high-voltage stack cannot be used on a low-voltage one, whatever a general compatibility list says, and no adapter changes that. Solis put it plainly on their own list: installing a non-compatible battery will void the inverter warranty. If you are not certain, ask us and we will check it against your part number before you order.
For the installer

String design, battery limits and what is in the box

The details that decide whether this unit suits the job:

  • Battery is the X1-B5-H only: 5 kWh a module, one to six modules, 5 to 30 kWh. Charge window 390 – 550 Vdc and discharge 370 – 500 Vdc, 3 kW and 7.6 A per module.
  • Because each module is limited to 3 kW, a single-battery system cannot deliver the inverter's full output from storage. Size the stack for the power you need, not only for the energy.
  • Two MPP trackers, one string each, 16 A per tracker and 20 A Isc. 600 V maximum, 75 V start-up, 80 – 550 V MPPT window.
  • Backup switches in under 10 ms with a 10 kVA peak for 10 seconds on the 5 kW and 6 kW (7.2 kVA on the 3.68 kW).
  • Up to three power modules in parallel.
  • Each module ships with a ground mount base. Wall mounting needs the wall bracket, and a stack of four or more batteries must be floor mounted rather than wall mounted.
  • Anker do not support the X1 with a diesel generator anywhere in Europe.
  • 19 kg, 670 × 335 × 150 mm, IP66, under 30 dB, −25 °C to +60 °C with derating above +45 °C.
Applications

Where this hybrid earns its place

The X1 Power Module, single phase is specified most often for these jobs.

Cold or unheated locationsHeated battery modules, rated to −20 °C operation.
Coastal and corrosive sitesC5 anti-corrosion rating.
Narrow spaces150 mm deep, one column.
Storage that growsOne to six 5 kWh modules, 5 to 30 kWh.
Time-of-use tariffsApp-managed charging around the tariff.
Backup for essential circuitsUnder 10 ms switchover with a 10-second peak.

Things worth knowing about this listing

These notes come from us and from the manufacturer, and they are the ones that most often cause a problem after delivery:
  • In the box: a power sensor, the base plate, side covers for the battery and power modules, a power module accessory kit, a battery module accessory kit and a Wi-Fi dongle. A ground mount base is included; wall mounting needs the wall bracket.
  • The Anker SOLIX X1 range covers 3.6 kW, 5 kW and 6 kW hybrid inverters, all of which work with the Anker 5 kWh battery module. Single-phase systems scale from 5 kWh to 90 kWh.
  • A stack of four or more battery modules must be floor mounted rather than wall mounted.
  • Anker do not support the X1 with a diesel generator anywhere in Europe.

Ordered with this inverter more often than anything else

A hybrid is the middle of a system, not the whole of it. These are the parts our customers add most often:

Frequently asked questions

Questions we get asked about this inverter

What comes in the box?

A power sensor, a base plate, side covers for the battery and power modules, a power module accessory kit, a battery module accessory kit and a Wi-Fi dongle. You add the battery modules and, if you are wall mounting, the wall bracket.

How much of the inverter's power can the battery actually deliver?

Each 5 kWh module is limited to 3 kW, so one module cannot supply a 5 kW or 6 kW inverter at full output. Two or more modules can.

Can I use it with a generator?

Not in Europe. Anker state that the combination of an X1 and a diesel generator is not supported here.

Wall or floor?

Either, up to three battery modules — a ground mount base is included and a wall bracket is available separately. From four modules the stack must be floor mounted.

Which battery?

The Anker X1-B5-H, and only that. It is a closed system: no other manufacturer's battery can be fitted.
