SolaX X1-Boost G4 — 200 % DC oversizing, 16 A per tracker and a 50 V start-up.
The X1-Boost G4 is SolaX's current single-phase grid-tied range and it is built around a design philosophy that suits the UK well: oversize the DC. It supports 200 % DC oversizing, 16 A per tracker and a 50 V start-up voltage, so you can hang a much larger array on a smaller inverter and harvest far more of the year's dull days for the handful of midsummer hours you clip.
About the SolaX X1-Boost G4
The in-built global MPP scan periodically sweeps the whole power curve rather than hill-climbing from where it is, which matters on partly shaded arrays where a simple tracker can lock onto a local peak and stay there.
It is IP66 rather than IP65, 404 × 274 × 146 mm and 11 kg, with 98 % peak and 97 % Euro efficiency. Export control is built in, and it can be extended into SolaX's Datahub for larger managed installations.
String design, certification and what is in the box
The details that decide whether this unit suits the job:
- Two MPP trackers, one string each, 16 A per tracker and 22 A Isc — sized for current large-format modules.
- 600 V maximum, 50 V start-up, 40 – 560 V MPPT window, 360 V nominal.
- In-built export control; master/slave parallel operation over Modbus.
- Type II SPD on DC and AC is optional; AFCI, AC auxiliary power supply and DC switch are all options too.
- IP66, natural cooling, 25 dB typical (30 dB on internal-fan models).
- Certified to IEC 61727, EN 50549, G98/G99, AS 4777.2, VDE 4105, CEI 0-21, VFR, PPDS and TOR.
- Adaptable to SolaX home EV charger and heat pump solutions.
Where this inverter earns its place
The X1-Boost G4 is specified most often for these jobs.
Can I add a battery to this?
This is a grid-tied PV inverter. It converts solar DC into AC for the property and the grid, and it has no battery port. That is not a shortcoming — it is the right architecture for a system without storage, and it is why it costs what it does.
If storage is on the roadmap, you have two routes. Add an AC-coupled battery system alongside this inverter later, which works with any PV inverter and needs no change to what is already installed. Or choose a hybrid inverter now and pay for a battery port you will use in a year or two. We are happy to talk that trade-off through before you order.

Questions we get asked about this inverter
What is a global MPP scan and why does it matter?
Under partial shading a string's power curve develops several peaks. A conventional tracker hill-climbs to the nearest one and can sit on a lower peak all day. A global scan sweeps the whole curve periodically and moves to the true maximum.
Can I really put twice the DC on it?
Up to 200 % is supported. In UK conditions the array rarely reaches its STC rating, so the clipping cost is small and the gain on dull days is large.
Is the DC switch included?
It is an option on this range. Check the SKU or budget for an external isolator.
Is AFCI included?
Optional, together with an optional external RSD (rapid shutdown).
Battery?
The X1-Boost is grid-tied. SolaX's hybrid ranges and Triple Power batteries are the storage route — ask us.
