Huawei SUN2000-100KTL-M2 Smart PV Controller — Ten trackers, smart string-level disconnection, and I-V curve diagnosis at 100 kW.

At 100 kW the questions change. Nobody is going to trace a fault by hand across twenty strings on a warehouse roof, so the inverter has to do the diagnosis itself. The SUN2000-100KTL-M2 has ten MPP trackers with two inputs each and smart I-V curve diagnosis built in: it sweeps every string, compares the curve shape against expected, and reports what has changed and where.

About the Huawei SUN2000-100KTL-M2 Smart PV Controller

The Smart String Level Disconnector goes further — individual strings can be isolated electronically rather than by climbing to a combiner box. Combined with AFCI arc-fault protection and Type II surge arresters on both sides, the DC safety and serviceability story is as strong as anything in this class.

Efficiency is 98.6 % at 400 V and 98.8 % at 480 V, with MBUS supported for module-level optimiser communication. It is IP66, smart air cooled, 1,035 × 700 × 365 mm and 93 kg with its mounting plate.

Battery and storage

Can I add a battery to this?

This is a grid-tied PV inverter. It converts solar DC into AC for the property and the grid, and it has no battery port. That is not a shortcoming — it is the right architecture for a system without storage, and it is why it costs what it does.

If storage is on the roadmap, you have two routes. Add an AC-coupled battery system alongside this inverter later, which works with any PV inverter and needs no change to what is already installed. Or choose a hybrid inverter now and pay for a battery port you will use in a year or two. We are happy to talk that trade-off through before you order.

What is smart I-V curve diagnosis?

The inverter sweeps each string's current-voltage curve and compares its shape against the expected one. Different faults distort the curve in different ways, so it can distinguish shading from soiling from a failed bypass diode — and tell you which string.

What is the Smart String Level Disconnector?

It lets individual strings be isolated electronically from the inverter, rather than requiring someone to go to a combiner box and pull a fuse or open a switch.

Which efficiency figure applies in the UK?

The 400 V figure — 98.6 % maximum, 98.4 % European. The 480 V figures apply to networks that use that voltage.

How heavy is it?

93 kg with the mounting plate. This is a mechanical handling job.
