Sigenergy · SigenStor BAT

Sigenergy Sigenstor Batteries 30.0 kWh with LED (3 x 9.0 kWh)

Sigenergy SigenStor BAT — 314 Ah cells, 10,000 cycles and a genuine 100 % depth of discharge.

A home battery stores the solar your house does not use at the moment it is generated, and gives it back in the evening. What decides whether that is worth doing is not the headline capacity but three numbers together: how much of the pack you may actually use, how fast it will charge and discharge, and how many cycles it is good for.

Overview

About the Sigenergy SigenStor BAT

The Sigen Battery is unusual on all three counts. The cells are 314 Ah and rated for 10,000 cycles, the depth of discharge is 100 % rather than the 90 – 95 % most packs quote, and there is a battery optimiser inside each module, which is what lets old and new modules be mixed in one stack when a system is expanded years later.

It is part of the SigenStor tower rather than a box on the wall: the Energy Controller sits on top, one to six battery modules under it, and the whole column is IP66 and convection cooled with no fans.

Sigenergy quote the usable capacity separately from the total — 5.84 kWh of 6.02, or 8.76 of 9.04 — which is the honest way round and the pair of numbers to compare against other brands.

Scaling

What each stack size gives you

One controller takes one to six modules. Using the 6.02 kWh module, that is:

Stack size
1 module6.02 kWh nominal — 5.84 kWh usable
2 modules12.04 kWh nominal — 11.68 kWh usable
3 modules18.06 kWh nominal — 17.52 kWh usable
4 modules24.08 kWh nominal — 23.36 kWh usable
6 modules36.12 kWh nominal — 35.04 kWh usable
Inverter compatibility

Which inverter will run this battery?

This is a stacking module for a SigenStor tower, 300 – 600 V on a single-phase controller and 600 – 900 V on a three-phase one.

It goes under a SigenStor Energy Controller, one to six modules per controller, and nothing else: this is a closed system. A Sigen Hybrid SP2 or TP2 inverter can also drive it, but only through a SigenStor BC battery controller, which is a separate part.

Hybrid inverter platforms in our range that take this architecture:

Inverter platforms
Sigenergy SigenStor Energy Controller, single phaseSingle phase, 10.0 SP, 12.0 SP, 3.6 SP, 5.0 SP and others
Sigenergy SigenStor Energy Controller, three phaseThree phase, 10.0 TP, 12.0 TP, 15.0 TP, 17.0 TP and others

Inverters we stock that will run it:

The single-phase controller takes a 300 – 600 V stack and the three-phase controller a 600 – 900 V one. Both are SigenStor BAT modules, but a stack built for one controller is the wrong voltage for the other, so size it against the controller in front of you. Ask us if you are not certain.
For the installer

Stack rules, cabling and what else the job needs

The details that decide whether this battery suits the system:

  • One to six modules per Energy Controller. The controller decides the window: 300 – 600 V on single phase, 600 – 900 V on three phase.
  • Sigenergy rate these modules at 100 % depth of discharge, and the usable figure they publish is about 97 % of the total — 5.84 kWh of 6.02, or 8.76 kWh of 9.04. Design to the usable figure.
  • Modules may be mixed old and new thanks to the optimiser in each one, so a stack can be expanded years after it was installed.
  • Charge and discharge is 3,000 W per 6.0 module and 4,600 W per 10.0, with a ten-second peak of 4,500 W and 6,900 W.
  • 767 × 270 × 265 mm per module. 62 kg for the 6.0 and 78 kg for the 10.0 — a two-person lift either way.
  • Floor standing or wall mounted, IP66, convection cooled, −20 to +55 °C.
  • A Sigen Hybrid SP2 or TP2 needs a SigenStor BC battery controller to connect to these modules. A SigenStor EC does not.
  • Recharge the battery within seven days of a full discharge to keep it healthy — that is Sigenergy's own instruction, not a suggestion.

Things worth knowing about this listing

These notes come from us and from the manufacturer, and they are the ones that most often cause a problem after delivery:
  • The module Sigenergy call the 10.0 holds 9.04 kWh, of which 8.76 kWh is usable. The capacity figures on this page are the datasheet's.
  • Recharge the battery within seven days of a full discharge. That is Sigenergy's instruction for keeping the pack healthy, not a suggestion.

Frequently asked questions

Questions we get asked about this inverter

Which inverter does it work with?

A SigenStor Energy Controller, single or three phase, with one to six modules per controller. A Sigen Hybrid SP2 or TP2 can also use it through a SigenStor BC battery controller. It will not work with another manufacturer's inverter.

Is the depth of discharge really 100 %?

Yes — Sigenergy rate these modules at 100 % DoD and publish the usable figure separately: 5.84 kWh of a 6.02 kWh module, 8.76 kWh of a 9.04 kWh one. The small difference is the reserve the BMS keeps.

Can I add modules later?

Yes, and unusually you can mix them with the original ones, because each module has its own optimiser. Up to six per controller.

How long will it last?

The cells are rated at 10,000 cycles at 0.5C and 25 °C to 60 % state of health, which for a daily cycle is a very long time.

Does it need anything else?

A SigenStor Energy Controller, and the base the stack sits on. If you are pairing it with a Sigen Hybrid SP2 or TP2 rather than an EC, you also need a SigenStor BC.

Have questions?

Usable energy is the nominal capacity multiplied by the depth of discharge, and both figures are in the Technical Specifications. Most current lithium batteries allow 90% or more.

It needs to appear on your inverter manufacturer's approved battery list and the voltage ranges have to match. Send us your inverter model and we'll confirm compatibility before you order.

Most systems stack in modules up to a maximum number of units per installation, given in the datasheet. Keep to the same model, and buy the full stack together where budget allows.

Only where the IP rating and operating temperature range allow it - both are in the Technical Specifications. Cold reduces usable capacity, so a garage or utility space is usually the better location.

Yes, where the inverter supports timed or forced charging. Paired with a time-of-use tariff this is often the quickest route to a shorter payback.

Warranty terms, and the throughput or cycle count they are based on, are listed under the Warranty tab and in the manufacturer documentation.
