SolarEdge Three Phase with Synergy Technology — 50 kW to 100 kW that two people can carry up a ladder, one Synergy Unit at a time.
A 100 kW inverter is normally a crane job. Synergy Technology takes it apart: one Synergy Manager plus two or three Synergy Units, each light enough for two people, assembled on the wall. On a retrofit roof with no plant room, no lift and no crane access, that is often the only workable answer.
About the SolarEdge Three Phase with Synergy Technology
Splitting the inverter also splits the risk. Each Synergy Unit operates independently, so a fault takes out a third of the capacity rather than all of it, and a failed unit is swapped without dismounting the whole inverter. On an asset with a performance obligation attached, that uptime difference matters more than a tenth of a percent of efficiency.
The pre-commissioning feature validates wiring and system configuration during installation, before grid connection — catching the wiring errors that otherwise surface on commissioning day with the DNO waiting. Thermal sensors watch for faulty terminations, built-in PID mitigation protects long-term yield, and the surge protection devices are monitored and field replaceable.
String design, certification and what is in the box
The details that decide whether this unit suits the job:
- Modular: one Synergy Manager plus two or three Synergy Units. Each piece is a two-person lift.
- Inverter power rating is set at commissioning, so one part number covers several ratings.
- Pre-commissioning validates wiring and configuration before grid connection.
- SafeDC as standard with optional rapid shutdown; arc fault protection built in.
- Built-in PID mitigation; monitored, field-replaceable DC and AC surge protection.
- Optional integrated DC safety switch removes external DC isolators.
- 1,000 Vdc maximum, 680 – 1,000 Vdc operating window.
Where this inverter earns its place
The Three Phase with Synergy Technology is specified most often for these jobs.
Can I add a battery to this?
This is a grid-tied PV inverter. It converts solar DC into AC for the property and the grid, and it has no battery port. That is not a shortcoming — it is the right architecture for a system without storage, and it is why it costs what it does.
If storage is on the roadmap, you have two routes. Add an AC-coupled battery system alongside this inverter later, which works with any PV inverter and needs no change to what is already installed. Or choose a hybrid inverter now and pay for a battery port you will use in a year or two. We are happy to talk that trade-off through before you order.

Questions we get asked about this inverter
What actually arrives on site?
A Synergy Manager and either two or three Synergy Units, depending on the power class. They assemble on the wall into one inverter. Secondary units are also available separately as spares or for expansion.
Why does modularity matter?
Handling and uptime. A 100 kW monolithic inverter needs mechanical lifting; Synergy Units do not. And when one unit faults, the rest keep generating.
What is pre-commissioning?
An automated check of wiring and system configuration performed during installation, before the grid connection is live. It catches wiring faults while the installers are still on site rather than on commissioning day.
Do I need optimisers?
Yes, on every module.
What warranty?
12 years standard, extendable to 20.
