About the Fox ESS EQ4800 high voltage series
The EQ4800 is Fox's mid-size high-voltage module: 4.66 kWh nominal, 4.19 kWh usable at a 90 % depth of discharge, and a cycle life of at least 6,000. Nine of them make 41.93 kWh in a single column 570 mm wide.
It is a stack, not a battery. One EQ4800-M master carries the battery management and the six-LED display; each EQ4800-S slave adds 4.66 kWh and one LED. Two modules is the minimum that will run, and the number the inverter will accept is in the table below.
It is rated for outdoor as well as indoor use at IP65, cooled by natural convection with no fans, and charges from 0 °C and discharges from −10 °C.

Stack rules, cabling and what else the job needs
The details that decide whether this battery suits the system:
- One master plus one to eight slaves. Two modules minimum, nine maximum in a stack.
- 104 Ah per module. 30 A recommended charge and discharge, 50 A maximum, 65 A peak for 60 seconds.
- Stack voltage is 44.8 V per module: 89.6 V at two modules and 403.2 V at nine, with an operating window of 81.2 – 103.0 V and 365.4 – 463.7 V respectively.
- Fox's compatibility matrix counts the modules an inverter will carry in total. Where that number is larger than the maximum stack on the datasheet, it is because the inverter takes more than one stack in parallel — the per-stack limit still applies to each one.
- A stack is one module type throughout. Fox modules of different capacities are not mixed in a series string, and a Fox low-voltage battery will not work on a high-voltage inverter or the other way round.
- CAN to the inverter. The stack cabling between modules is supplied with the modules.
- 570 mm wide and 380 mm deep whatever the stack size; height runs from 386 mm at two modules to 1,352 mm at nine, and weight from 83.5 kg to 356.5 kg. Plan the floor and the lift.
- Charge 0 to 55 °C, discharge −10 to 55 °C, storage −10 to 35 °C. Maximum altitude 2,000 m.

Is one module a battery?
No. A stack is one EQ4800-M master plus at least one EQ4800-S slave, so the smallest working system is two modules and 9.32 kWh.
How many can I fit?
Nine in a stack. How many your inverter will take is in the table on this page — it is not the same number for every Fox family.
How much of the 4.66 kWh can I use?
4.19 kWh a module, at a 90 % depth of discharge. Compare usable figures between batteries, not nominal ones.
Can it go outside?
Yes. It is IP65 and rated for outdoor or indoor installation, floor standing on the Fox stand.
Can I add EQ4800 modules to an older Fox stack?
Only to another EQ4800 stack, and only within the nine-module limit. Send us a photograph of the existing stack and we will confirm before you order.
