A Stack100 tower has a height limit and a room has a ceiling. When the modules will not go up any further, the extension set is what splits the stack into two towers instead.

If the BDU has a heating function and the modules do not — or the modules are a mixture — the BDU reports an error. The fix is to refresh the BDU program remotely and turn the heating function off.
If it is the other way round, and the BDU has no heating function while the modules do, the whole system simply runs without heating and the BDU raises no error at all. Nothing is broken; the heating is just not available.
