Dyness Stack100 BDU & Base

Dyness Stack100 BDU and base — One per tower — the unit the stack does not run without.

A Stack100 tower is modules standing on a BDU and base. The BDU is the intelligent control unit: it provides the protection functions, runs the integrated thermal management and is what the inverter actually talks to.

Overview

About the Dyness Stack100 BDU and base

It is not optional and it is not shared. One BDU is required per tower, so a two-tower system needs two, which is why the larger Solis and Dyness packages ship with more than one.

Each BDU supports up to fifteen modules on its tower and up to twelve towers in parallel, which is what takes a system past 920 kWh.

Built-in Wi-Fi gives remote monitoring and over-the-air firmware updates — which matters more than it sounds, because the fix for a heating-function mismatch between BDU and modules is a remote firmware refresh.

Compatibility

What does this fit?

This is the control unit and base every Stack100 tower stands on.

One BDU per tower, matched to the module line. The standard BDU goes under a Stack100 tower and the Pro BDU under a Stack100 Pro tower. Both support up to fifteen modules per tower and twelve towers in parallel.

What the job needs

The details that decide whether this suits the system:

  • One BDU and base per tower, without exception.
  • Supports up to 15 modules per tower and 12 towers in parallel, for over 920 kWh.
  • The base unit is included and is what the tower stands on.
  • Built-in Wi-Fi for remote monitoring and OTA firmware updates.
  • When the BDU has a heating function but the battery modules do not, or where heated and non-heated modules are mixed, the BDU reports an error. The fix is to upgrade and refresh the BDU program remotely to turn the heating function off.
  • When the BDU does not have a heating function but the battery modules do, or where heated and non-heated modules are mixed, the whole system works normally without the heating function and the BDU does not raise an error.
  • Match the BDU to the module line: the Pro BDU goes with Stack100 Pro modules.

Frequently asked questions

Questions we get asked about this inverter

How many do I need?

One per tower.

Is the base included?

Yes — the BDU comes with its base.

How large a system will it support?

Up to fifteen modules per tower and twelve towers in parallel, for over 920 kWh.

What happens if the BDU and the modules do not match on heating?

If the BDU is heated and the modules are not, or they are mixed, the BDU reports an error and the fix is a remote firmware refresh to turn heating off. If the BDU is not heated and the modules are, the system simply runs without heating and raises no error.
